Author has written 14 stories for Phantom of the Opera, Jimmy Neutron, Fairly Odd Parents, Legally Blonde, Twilight, and Next to Normal. I realize my older work is terrible, which is why most of it was removed. At any rate, don't judge my current ability by those pieces. Yes, I do have a name, and no, it's not 'phantomphan1992.' If you must know, it's Molly (pronounced Mah-lee). I've been on this earth for 17 years. My hobbies include writing, obviously, as made clear by my account on this site), reading, singing (probably off-key), painting, sketching (I love portraits. They're hard, but when I finish with them, I'm usually pleasantly surprised at how realistic they look), and cooking. My dislikes include High School Musical, Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus (her voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard...), The Jonas Brothers, Zac Efron, Andrew Lloyd Webber and his stupid Phantom sequel, Phantom of Manhattan (yeah, I read it, and I hated it), and bad grammar and spelling, to name a few. I'm bad about updating, but I refuse to post unless I can get the chapter just right. Perhaps I should stick to drabbles and one-shots... My fandoms include: Phantom of the Opera: My first major fandom. I first saw the movie at my friend's house, and loved it. Then, a few months later, I heard the show was coming to the area, but I didn't think I would be able to see it. Imagine my surprise when, on Christmas morning, I find out my parents got tickets! It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. To be completely honest, I can hardly stand to watch the movie anymore. Pairings: Erik/Christine, Raoul/Christine, Meg/Raoul Legally Blonde: the Musical: I've been in love with this show since I saw the View performance on Youtube. Of course, I was ecstatic to learn that the cast recording would be coming out in the next few weeks, and I bought it and fell deeper in love with it. I finally saw it live. Omigod, you guys. It was amazing, and I went stage-dooring afterward. The cast members are all such sweethearts. And there's a chance I fell in love with DB Bonds just a little bit during "Chip on My Shoulder". Pairings: Emmett/Elle, Emmett/Corduroy, Warner/Brooke, Warner/Vivienne Rent: It began with the film, although I finally saw it live with ADAM PASCAL and ANTHONY RAPP! I know, how exciting. Pairings: Mimi/Roger, Mark/Scarf, Mark/Camera, MoJo, Angel/Collins, some Mark/Joanne (I'm so incredibly cannon) Wicked: This was the second show I saw after becoming a musical fan. I absolutely loved it. To be honest, Idina is not my favorite Elphaba, but she's definitely on the list. Kristin is, of course, one of my idols, but Megan Hilty shares the number one spot with her on my list of G(a)lindas. Pairings: Fiyero/Elphaba, G(a)linda/Boq, Nessarose/Boq Twilight: I can't believe I haven't already added this. I'm Team Edward, but I love Jacob, too. I guess you could say I feel the same way Bella does. I don't love it as much as I pretend to, but it's still very enjoyable. Pairings: Edward/Bella, Alice/Jasper, Emmett/Rosalie, Carlisle/Esme, Mike/Jessica, Edward/Me (Juuuust kidding) Next to Normal: I swear, this show has completely taken over my life. It's pretty freaking amazing. Pairings: Natalie/Henry, Dan/Diana, Gabe/Me (and I'm not kidding this time...) Interests: Music: I'm all over the map with my musical tastes. I love showtunes, but I also like rock, alternative, some pop (particularly 90's pop, because I'm cool like that...), jazz, gospel, some country, classical, and alternative, among other genres. No, I'm really not into mainstream. I cannot stand 'Hannah Montana' or the Jonas Brothers. I really don't like rap or heavy metal music. My favorite artists are Hugh Panaro, Jon McLaughlin, and Kristin Chenoweth. Television: Pushing Daisies, Mythbusters, Law and Order, Cold Case, Food Network, Rachael Ray, Gilmore Girls, Green Acres, and Dancing With The Stars, which I've watched since the first season. And yes, I do have a soft spot for cartoons like Jimmy Neutron, The Fairly Odd Parents, and Rugrats. Movies: Beauty and the Beast, While You Were Sleeping (it's something of a classic in my family), Little Mermaid, National Treasure, Enchanted, My Fair Lady, Dear Frankie, The Secret Life of Bees (good book, too), Dan In Real Life, Mamma Mia, Pay It Forward, and Phantom of the Opera. Musicals: Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Legally Blonde, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Rent, Side Show, Les Miserables, Happy Days, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Mary Poppins, and Thoroughly Modern Millie, among others. Books: Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux, Phantom by Susan Kay, Fairest by Gail Carson Levine, Avalon High by Meg Cabot, Without You by Anthony Rapp, A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks, and Meg Cabot's Mediator series. My favorite author is Nicholas Sparks, but I also love Lurlene McDaniel's books. Actors: Hugh Panaro, Ewan McGregor, Christian Borle, Sean Palmer, Richard Blake, Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp, Jesse L. Martin, Norm Lewis, James Marsden, Patrick Dempsey, John Cudia, Wilson Jermaine Heredia, Scott Patterson, Justin Bartha, and DB Bonds. Actresses: Sierra Boggess, Marie Danvers, Laura Bell Bundy, Kristin Chenoweth, Julia Murney, Kendra Kassebaum, Megan Hilty, Tracie Thoms, Idina Menzel, Amy Adams, Sherie Rene Scott, Alice Ripley, Emily Skinner, Annaleigh Ashford, Rebecca Caine, Susan Egan, Ashley Brown, Sutton Foster, and Audrey Hepburn. School: I'm taking a full Pre-AP/AP class load this year (Gawd, I'm stupid. After all, isn't junior year supposed to be the hardest no matter what?). In other words, don't expect many updates. I must say, Phantom of the Opera is one of the scariest fandoms out there. Goodness knows there are enough cliches in just this one to go around. As such, I have many Phantom pet peeves, pet peeves I shall now list and rant about. We'll call it a general list of no-no's... 1. Raoul/Erik slashes: My God, these men loathe each other. Do you honestly think they're going to put their problems aside and fall madly in love? I think not. 2. Mary-Sues: All fandoms have them, but it seems Phantom is bogged down with them. What's worse is people try so hard not to make their characters Mary-Sues, they end up creating them. Giving your female lead a deformity to match poor lonely Erik's isn't enough. It just creates a tragic Mary- Sue, which is just as bad. 3. Bad-Guy Raoul: Raoul is not going to beat Christine, as much as you wish he would. He risked his life for the woman, for crying out loud. Do you think he would turn around and become the bad guy? (I've admittedly done this but have since deleted the story. After all, I was thirteen, and it was my first attempt at writing fan fiction.) 4. A handsome Erik: Erik is ugly. Period. If he weren't, he wouldn't be the Phantom and we would have no story. I'm not saying there aren't good pieces where Erik's not deformed, but Leroux created Erik, and if he says Erik's deformed, then by George, Erik's going to be deformed in my stories. 5. Raoul-Bashing: I'm not saying character bashing is all bad. Goodness no... Just look at Phantom Academy. But if you're actually being serious while bashing the character, well, that's just bad. 6. Useless Sex Scenes: Yes, I realize people have sex. It's part of life, but that doesn't mean we have to write a scene into every chapter, now do we? Too many of them will turn your fic into one of those trashy romance novels you can buy for a dollar at the grocery store. 7. Cross-overs: I'm not talking about crossing Phantom with another work. No, I'm talking about crossing Phantom with Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Twilight, Wicked, Les Miserables... All in the same story! 8. Sleazy Christine: Christine isn't a slut, as much as you would like to believe this. She's actually very naive. By making her a slut, you're writing out of character, which, unless your intent for a parody, is bad. 9. Erik/OC: Unless well-written, they tend to be filled with Mary-Sues and sex scenes (familiar?). Also, I can't see Erik ever forgetting Christine and falling in love with another woman. And let's not forget, Leroux's Erik dies in the end of the novel. 10. Erik making love to an automaton that looks like Christine: Oh, wait... That's Webber's sequel. (Yeah, I know. I threw up in my mouth a little bit.) Well, folks, that's all for now. Carpe Diem; Seize the Day! (Or, if you're looking for a more literal translation, 'Harvest the Day!') | |||||||||||
