Author has written 29 stories for Hellboy, Dracula, V for Vendetta, Phantom of the Opera, and Beauty and the Beast. Thanks for checking my work out! I am (to borrow a turn of phrase) in no particular order: an artist, a poet, a writer (both of fics and my own original stuff), and in no particular order. I enjoy a few different fandoms, but I have a particular fetish for tall men in masks and black capes... Mmm... and so I am (thus far) writing mainly in the worlds of The Phantom of The Opera and V for Vendetta (which I have finally! Yaayyy! seen; I had to wait for it to come out on video as it never came to my movie theatre). I am also timidly venturing into writing fanfic in one of my very first (if not the first) fandoms, T.V.'s Beauty and the Beast. Anything I write will be posted here, as usual, but frankly, the collection of BATB fics here is rather limited. If you're interested, check out the Classic Alliance of Beauty and the Beast at http://www.classicalliance.net/ for an excellent collection of fics, as well as a whole lotta other stuff! My Magnum Opus so far is Through A Mirror, Darkly, which is not only my very first Phantom phic (but don't let that scare you away; I've been writing original work for about three decades now, and have been told that I'm rather good; "You have the style of a consumate professional!" is how one reviewer put it, I believe), but also my longest fic I've written, and quite possibly the longest anything that I've finished. Writing it has not only been a great experience on its own (as has reading the reviews! /glomps all reviewers/), but also a very good exercise in discipline. I have something of a tendency to get distracted, you see... Oh, look! A squirrel! Ahem. Anyways, here's my stuff. If I get held up again in the middle of a fic, I'll say so here, so you won't be left hanging. I'm sorry I didn't do so for Mirror, but I honestly hadn't figured out where to edit this! Thank you for reading, and thank you (glomps) for reviewing! Reviews, be they ever so short, truly do make my day. Incidentally, I mainly hang out at The Shadow Gallery (http://community.livejournal.com/f_for_fanfic/) and The Write Stuff (see below). And visit my blog, if you like; I don't update often, but I do occasionally post snippets there before I put the finished product up here. At least, I do in theory... ;-) Same goes for essays that aren't permitted here (i.e. technically not fiction, even if it's about fictional characters). Drop by and have a cup of tea! As an aside, I just found out that I had anonymous reviews disabled. I believe that is the default setting for the site; however, I have now enabled them. That's right: you do not need to be signed in, or even hold an ff.net account, in order to review. So send 'em in! Another Announcement!! On April 17th, 2009, I gave birth to our second child and first daughter Alvena Susan! Seven pounds nine ounces by emergency C-section (the placenta started to detach early and she went into distress so now I got me a nifty bikini-line scar lol). Too early to tell eye colour yet. Mum and baby are doing fine. Yay Alvena! :D ANNOUNCEMENT!! I am very pleased to be able to announce that an absolutely wonderful and talented writing group of which I am a member, The Write Stuff, has produced an anthology of original Phantom of the Opera fiction! For further info, I have blithely copied-and-pasted the below from MadLizzy, who was the kind and supportive soul who introduced me to The Write Stuff in the first place. Phantom Variations: Tales From the World of the Opera Ghost is now available!! Visit the official website for more details, free previews, and to order your very own copy!! From the website: "For nearly a century, the legend of the Opera Ghost has thrilled readers around the globe. But there’s much more to his story than the brief chapter of his life written by Gaston Leroux. In Phantom Variations, you will find thirteen tales that explore Erik’s childhood, his romance with Christine, and his life – before and after – becoming the Phantom of the Opera. These are tales of what might have been, and what never was. They are Phantom Variations: Tales from the World of the Opera Ghost." It's a beautiful collection of wonderful stories, in every genre and length imaginable. (If you click on the links to either the hardcover or softcover editions at the website, you'll get to see a free preview of it as well!) It truly is a lovely and well-written anthology, and I'm not saying that just because I have two brand-new, never-before-seen stories in it! Plus, all proceeds will go to benefit The Phorphyria Foundation, which seeks to help those unfortunates afflicted with the disfiguring disease which it is believed influenced Gaston Leroux's description of our poor Erik. Go on. Order a copy. You know you want to. ;-) Plus, it's easier to manage in the bath than the computer you're reading this on is. ;-) ;-) Blatantly stolen from MadLizzy: "An invitation to readers and writers: The Write Stuff was founded by writers and readers coming together to discuss and encourage the written word. We are an open community, not limiting ourselves to any one genre, and welcome fiction, poetry and other original works. We also engage in literary discussions, review books, movies and stage shows, and generally have a good time. If you would like to join our board of readers and writers, PM me and I’ll send you the address. We are not trying to be cloak-and-dagger with this, but have chosen not to post the address in order to eliminate potential problems with spammers and hackers." Thanks, Lizzy! (PS: Lizzy tells me she stole it from HDKingsbury. Thanks, HD!) 7/26/08: My apologies to anyone who has tried to contact me in the past several months! I was unable to log in to my account here, so I couldn't answer anyone unless they had a story up with anonymous reviews enabled. I've finally figured out what the issue was, though (something at my end) and how to get around it, so I will try to respond to everyone! Again, my apologies! I truly wasn't ignoring anyone. Story Update (current as of Saturday, July 26, 2008): Couldn't bloody well log into my account here (see apology above), so here's two new phiclets to make up for it! Otto's Perspective salutes the brave sacrifice of ALW's score-deleting kitty, and Pitching the Mouse expands on my first thought when I heard ALW's new title for the sequel was going to be Phantom: Once Upon Another Time. Disney, anyone? ;-) I'll try to finish up An Unfortunate Series of Events, my next Poto phic, and get it up for you all as soon as I can (if you want to see it as a work in progress, join The Write Stuff; it's up there). Cheers! And boy, it's good to be back! | |||||||||
