Hi there and welcome to my profile:)
I don´t know how many people actually read these things, but for those who do, here´s a little bit about myself and some tips for those searching new stuff to read (just scroll down for that):
Location: sitting at a very untidy desk in Europe.
Contacting me: If you want to talk, you can add me in Skype - Nickname same as here. Don´t worry, I´m friendly.
Physical appearance: long blonde hair, green eyes and teeth still intact...
Pets: none besides dustbunnies
Visited fandoms: Sonic the Hedgehog mostly, Zelda, occasionally YGO, Harry Potter or Discworld
Favourite genres: Humour/parody, action-adventure, drama and just that little bit of shounen-ai to spice things up a little ;)
What I´m looking for: Currently it´s a well-written adaption of any Sonic game for either the Gameboy Advance or DS. If you see any, please PM me. :)
What's your goal in fanfiction? I am trying to write for every genre at least once.
Genres covered so far:
Drama - Life Could Have Been so Different
Humour - Sonic Drabble Trouble!
Parody - Wikipedia: Hedgehogs
Horror - Trapped in a Nightmare
Crossover - Tales of Shadows
Fantasy - Sing for Me
Romance - Once upon a Time
Mystery - During the Night
Spiritual - Last Story
Adventure - Burning Arrow, Wildfire Heart
Friendship - Prevalent theme in most fics, though 'Five Things' probably comes closest
AU - Five Things That Never Happened
Family - Easter in SPACE!
Shounen-Ai: Once Upon a Time
Poetry: Sonic Drabble Trouble! (Chapter 4. You may scream, if you wish.)
Genres that will be up next/ soon:
Songfic - Update: Yup, the story for the lyrics is pretty much finished. Just needs typing down...
Genres that will drive me up the wall numerous times until I have come up with a story for them:
Crime: (Planned Title: How Both Sonic And Shadow Fell In Love With My Beautiful, Female OC. Now if you don´t think that is already a crime against decent fanfiction all by itself, wait until I tell you about her reality-warping, grammar-ruining superpowers! )
Angst (the genre I hate the most. But I do have an idea about what I could write without it being clichéd)
Supernatural: (After I missed last Halloween, this story is scheduled for october 2008...)
Suspense
Tragedy: (then again, I could always write an essay about my driving skills and post it, if I was desperate)
Sci-Fi: (ARK is a space colony, right? does that make it science-fiction?)
Western: (WTH?! I´m a Sonic writer, what on earth am I supposed to write in this genre?! @.@)
Hurt/Comfort: (I guess you could call "Life could have been so different" a H/C story...)
So there´s my plan for the future - all in the cause of improving my writing skills and entertaining you along the way. If you want to tell me which genre I did best so far, please go right ahead. :)
Why do you write?
I started because I usually didn´t like the (unhappy) endings of books, so I wrote alternate solutions. Later, I discovered that writing was actually what I was best at at school and so I began to improve it. I also love to entertain people and that´s probably why my humour/ parody stories are so far the most popular on my profile. You will only rarely find a fic of mine where there are not at least some gags stuffed into a corner somewhere.
When I discovered this site, I was overwhelmed and usually still no week goes by without me being stunned by what people will come up with. And I´m not just referring to mpreg. Geez, that weirded me out...@.@ Soon after collecting some favourite authors and stories, I started to write in English myself. I mentioned this before, I think, but I guess it should rather be on the profile - English is not my first language, so if you find any mistakes, please point them out. Now I find that writing improves one´s active vocabulary greatly and there´s also a lot of cultural stuff to learn, if you´re not living in an English-speaking country. (What? I think 'The cat in the hat' DOES count as educational!)
I also try to give constructive criticism when I review, but can become slightly sarcastic when a fic has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Please don´t feel offended by mild cusswords or some acerbic remarks - remember, feedback is golden and should be considered. I never flame. Update: Well, almost never. But there´s only so much character rape even I can tolerate.
How do you develop your stories?
The Plot Bunny visits me late at night and hides ideas in my head. Hence the beautiful shady valleys beneath my eyes each morning.
Which fic do you want to plug shamelessly? Life could have been so different. If you really want to make my day, please give it a review, friendly or not.
Why do you hate Tails so much?
I don't hate him. Honest. He's one of my fave characters, actually - but there's just something about him that screams 'I'm cuter when I'm miserable!'. Can I help it? :D
Concerning Updates:
It still amazes me, but there are actually people out there who want me to write more, and faster. Well, I usually try to update at least one story every week and for approximately one year, this has been working out splendidly, providing you with over 54 chapters of various fics to read. :) One thing I can promise is that once I start a story, I will finish it. Whenever there´s a first chapter online, I´ll have the plot already sketched out, so no worries there.
'Burning Arrow, Wildfire Heart' is probably the one I´m going to update the most, with 'Life could have been so different' a close second. 'Wikipedia: Hedgehogs' will see a fourth chapter as well, though updates will be sporadic. 'Once Upon a Time' will be updated quickly and more often than the two epics. In between, I can promise lots of one-shots, fluff, songfics, seasonal stuff and drabbles to keep you entertained. Happy reading!
Update: Starting from Oct 2008, I'll tour Oz for a year - so, updates reduced to twice a month for that period. Sorry, guys! ;)
Future/Possible Projects:
Tales of Shadows: My planned next epic. Semi-AU, future Mobius. Miles 'Tails' Prower is all alone save for his friend Cream, and has to fight off bullies, green hedgehogs, gang leaders and blackmailers, all of them threatening him or his uncle Merlin. Thankfully, he manages to repair a pair of mysterious ancient hoverskates and suddenly, his life seems to have taken quite the interesting turn...(Chance to be continued: 90 percent)
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games: Since you were all so fond of my SatsR adaption, I have already been thinking about another one...probably to be uploaded alongside Tales of Shadows. Princess Sally and the President of the United Nations get note from the Mushroom Kingdom that the first Interuniversal Games are planned and take place soon, but where can you find a bunch of athletes that are prepared to go for gold without any training beforehand...? (Chance to be continued: 30 percent)
Five Sequels That Never Happened: Part 2 of 'Five Things'. Sonic is learning to run after he has been crippled since birth. Miles 'Kitsune' Prower, Prince of thieves and apprentice of Rouge goes on a dangerous mission with his teacher. And meanwhile, Amy has to make the decision whether her long sought-after love Knuckles is really worth a lonely life in the sky. But of course, all of these things...never happened. (Chance to be continued: 40 percent)
Return of the Black Arms: Another cute plot bunny that will probably turn into a rabid march hare the moment I actually try to type it up. Robotnik tried and failed miserably with his Shadow clone army. A certain alien overlord with a voice problem thinks that the idea in itself was good though...hey Faker, when did you get such violent siblings? (Chance to be continued: 20 percent)
A Christmas Carol: (Non-Sonic; Charles Dickens parody): There are certain stories that everybody knows. Stories that teach us things about love, life and ourselves. Part of our culture and absolutely vital for the spirit of the season, too. But in a world where imagination failed to develop, there is no author to think them up...so the employees of Highest Heaven Inc. have to act them out! And since the employees are mostly angels and spirits, you can be sure it's not going to be a simple theatre performance...Introducing Tan, newbie and terrified, with his latest assignment to reform some strange old grouch, and he'll need a cushion for his 'Ghost of Christmas Present' costume, too...(Chance to be continued: 80 percent)
If you want to see any of them in particular, just drop me a PM - maybe it'll make me type faster. ;)
Additional stuff:
Hobbies: Video games, hiking, reading, diving, writing (duh! XD) and everything Japanese, ranging from learning the goddamn language to trying my luck at karate and sushi - and at least so far I´ve only hurt people with one of the latter two things...
Books I love: Discworld, Hitchhiker´s guide to the Galaxy, Artemis Fowl, Sherlock Holmes, Tales of the Otori and Twilight
Comics/manga I like: Fullmetal Alchemist, Usagi Yojimbo, Calvin and Hobbes, and everything of the Scrooge McDuck universe by Don Rosa...
