My penname is Jane Poirot, my real name shall go unknown. It's a combination of two of Agatha Christie's most famous detectives, Jane Marple and Hercule Poirot. It was my original username for the Agatha Christie forums on the official website, and it just grew on me. For the record, I prefer Poirot, but it's been a while since I've read an AC book (though I should!).
I used to be known as AIT98 (Author In Training), but I changed my penname because I personally feel I am no longer an author-in-training; I'm not published on the shelves, but I have grown a bit as an author since I first came on here in October 2006 (seven years ago already? Time flies fast...), so I felt it was time for a change. And to keep up with the times, I have a twitter account:
Also, my fanfics "How NOT To Write ATTWN Fanfiction" and "The Diary of a Child Murderess" have been translated into Russian by tulip meadow and you can find them at these links:
Anime I am currently watching:
In regards to MyAnimeList...here is how my scoring works:
10 = Absolute favourite with minimal flaws (Note: 10 /=/ masterpiece, though there are 10's that I do think are excellent masterpieces)
9 = Favourite, though has one or two significant flaws
8 = Great though not quite a favourite (I usually give this score to shows I am in the process of watching and am enjoying, and could be subject to change for the better or worse as the show goes on or might not even change at all if I enjoyed it but just simply wouldn't call it a favourite)
7 = Means one of two things: Not my cup of tea, but still perfectly good/well-made by its own merits OR Very good/well-made and almost becomes a cup of tea, were it not for flaws that just can't be overlooked
6 = Far from perfect but not terrible and worth watching
5 = Not good, not bad, just okay
3 = Really, really bad
No score = You don't give scores to that type of thing. You just don't.
I rate mainly by how much I enjoyed the story, whether I thought it was entertaining, well-written, and/or how well it plays up to its genre. Keep in mind that these ratings are subjective; what I like may be another person's despised show, and what I don't like as much may be another person's all-time favourite. It all depends on how you would personally score something, and what your kind of story is or isn't. An anime with a 10 or 9 rating has a very likely chance of me writing a fanfic for that show, but only if I come up with an idea I really, really like that I'm willing to commit myself to.
If MAL had a .5 system (as in, 8.5/10, 6.5/10), there are a few shows I would likely apply this to. Those shows fit somewhere between the score I ultimately gave it, and a slightly higher score it deserves. If I manage to make a list, I'd put it here.
Also, I never update my manga list, though I may eventually put up a favourite manga section.
Props to this dramatic reading!
On a seperate note, this is one of the funniest things EVER:
As for whatever the future may hold...2013 will continue to reap in more Ookami Kakushi fanfics, including a possible epic that has been roughly two years in the making. As for other fandoms...for Umineko, I will attempt to wrap up "Cat in the Box" and "Fractured Fragment" before the year is out (key word: "attempt"). For ATTWN, I will likewise attempt to wrap up "Hunter's Lodge". After dedicating an entire journal to it, there is absolutely no way I can just let the idea go to waste. I might also have a few plans to polish up some old Kim Possible fanfics I discovered and put them up here (though they would take a LOT of polishing). And if there are any fandoms I fall in love with enough to want to write for, or if I choose to go back to other fandoms...? Well, stay tuned.
