Some of my top reads of the last few years (I mean I read them in the last few years - that's not necessarily when they were written):

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell; Baudolino; The Princess Bride; I Capture the Castle; the Thursday Next books; everything Juliet Marillier has ever written (just about!); Phantastes (19th century fantasy classic); the Dalemark books; Tales of the Otori; The Book Thief; and the incomparable Fushigi Yugi (which I'm still in the middle volumes of, so no spoilers!!)

Some of my all-time favourites:

Narnia; Lord of the Rings; Grimms Fairy Tales; lots of medieval romances and 19th century novels; the Iliad and the Metamorphoses; and everything I did for my A-Levels, including the very funny Gulliver's Travels.

Some of my top viewings in the last few years:

Howl's Moving Castle (and consequently a heck of a lot more stuff by Studio Ghibli esp. Castle in the Sky and Whisper of the Heart); House of Flying Daggers; Kingdom of Heaven; Tristan & Isolde; The Illusionist; Stardust; and not forgetting Heroes and Torchwood.

Some of my all-time favourites:

Lord of the Rings; Dead Poets Society; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; The Wizard of Oz; Beauty and the Beast (the Disney film and the TV show) and of course Sharpe.
