Well this is good and bad news I think. The good news is that I have almost moved on to another fandom. The Hobbit fandom. It's welcoming, there is no bashing as of yet so that's good. I like all the dwarfs and the wizards (except Saruman) and Bilbo too. More good news is that because I have moved on, I have been caring less and less about snape bashing on here. I left 4? reviews on a fic and I do regret it because now I look back on it and think 'who cares? it's how he/she sees it and he/she should be able to express that, even if I disagree with it' So I do apologize.

The bad news is I have grown disinterested in the HP fandom. Too many rabids and anti's left for my tastes. I'm still a fan of Snape but that's about all that's kept me in this fandom for as long as I have. Hell, he's the only reason I started to read HP.

So, I still talk HP, and I sill love discussions but I'm just...bored and have moved on.

Character people say you are most like: Tony Stark. I'm like him in personality in every way except for the narcissism and love of sex (I've never had sex at all nor do I desire to). Which character do people say you are most like?

Sometimes if I see bashing in a fic I WILL get mad and comment as such. However in rare cases such bashing is present because the character is the 'narrator' and thus its his/hers opinions and not the author him/herself. Or maybe it's both.

If I am overly mean to you because of a bad day or something then PM me and chew me out. Dont chew Snape out just me. If I act like a bitch then I fully deserve to be called out. It's better to do it in PMs because you can speak to me directly instead of writing it where I might never see it.

I should add that I have been heavely bullied by both teachers and students so because of this I hold little to no sympathy for any of the marauders (especially Sirius Black and James Potter) with the exception of Remus Lupin. They, in my opinion, did nothing to deserve my sympathy. Snape screwed up and then spent his life fixing things. He saved the world, others during spying, and protected students in book 7. He was a dick but unlike Sirius, he did something for the people who hated him and wouldn't care if he died.

However these are only my opinions. Feel free to disagree.

My favorte HP characters are: Severus Snape, Luna, Neville, Albus (to a degree but not too much), Hermonie, and Krum.

I am a strong, independent woman who will not be silenced. I am a dick. I can be harsh but I can be nice. If I see bashing then I will leave you a harsh review. I do not tolerate bashing toward any character because it's not right. I ask a lot of questions and I am very open minded. If you are upset with what I left in a review then go ahead and message me. I prefer a calm conversation to anger and ranting. So if you are messaging me with the hopes of starting a war with bashing then don't bother because I will not take the bait. I will talk to you in a fair and neutral as possible manner. I can talk as long as you want to (my longest conversation lasted a month on here) but I WILL block you temporarily if you persist in bashing Snape or other characters, attacking me personally, or acting like an ass.

Another thing you should know. If you send me a PM and then block me I can't read it. So if you want to 'rant' at me or 'put me in my place' then keep me unblocked so I can read and then respond to you and hopefully figure out why you are angry at me.

Fan Fic recommendations.

These are fanfic's that I have read or am currently reading that I feel are the best of the best. These are not for everyone and not everyone will like them and that's ok. But I urge you to give them a try.

1. Chasing the Sun - Loten: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7413926/1/Chasing-The-Sun (finished) It's an SS/HG and it takes a while to read. Even if you don't like SS/HG I urge you to give this one a try.

2. Post Tenebras, Lux - Loten: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6578435/1/Post_Tenebras_Lux (finished) takes a while to read. SS/HG but has excellent characterization of Severus Snape.

3. Pet Project - Caeria: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2290003/1/Pet_Project (on going) An SS/HG fic with a cannon take on Severus Snape that still manages to be unique. It's a bit of a read but totally worth it.

4. The Birthday Present - excessivelyperky: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2470334/1/The_Birthday_Present (finished) VERY LONG READ but totally worth it. No parings just Snape.

5. Tricks Of The Mind - The Half Mad Muggle: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7264528/1/Tricks-of-the-Mind (on going) one of my personal faves. It's a Severus/Albus piece with no romance. It updates slowly but it's worth a read and a place on your watch list.

6.The Occluded Soul - Aurette: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6408692/1/The-Occluded-Soul (finished) It's another SS/HG but with a twist. Good for people who like a Snape who's literally 'out of his mind' or 'insane' think Occlumency to an insane degree to a point where he's a trapped in his own mind and functioning robot.

7. A Lapse In Judgement - misundersnape: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5167455/1/A-Lapse-in-Judgement (ongoing) Snape makes a mistake with an 18 year old student and all goes spiraling out of control for him. Recommended read because it's a realistic story that shows the consequences of student/teacher relations.

8. Dark Wizard's Black Cat - morgainedulac: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6726919/1/Dark_Wizards_Black_Cat (one shot) A cute but sad story about a little kitty who finds an owner in Severus Snape. It's a light read, quite short, but good if you want a really good story but none of the giant length that usually accompanies them.

9. Secrets And Lies - lucidity: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1862348/1/Secrets_and_Lies (complete) Snape looses his hearing thanks to Voldy. And once he realizes what he's lost, Severus falls into despair. Anyone who plays an instrument or sings will feel his despair and share the same fear of not being able to hear music anymore. Highly recommended fic, not too hard a read and not too long. No parings but has SS/AD father son moments.

10. Summon The Lambs To Slaughter - La Guera: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/948492/1/Summon_the_Lambs_to_Slaughter (ongoing/possibly on hold) a disabled student comes to Hogwarts and a problem arises later on in the fic. Very long but definitely worth a read. No paring (I think) but features a funny song later in the story about Cassandra the witch and her skill with a broom, sung by Albus Dumbledore. This Snape is probably the closest to cannon depending on how you saw Snape in the books (i.e. Everyone will see him differently to a degree)

11.Gems of Black and of Green -SweetAngels123: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7721332/1/Gems-of-Black-and-of-Green (complete) Lily watches Severus Snape through the years and sees all he has sacrificed and gone through. Short, easy, and light read. This is NOT SS/LE it's just a friendship.

Just don't bash characters. You can dislike them or hate them but don't bash them. Every character; Snape, Harry, James, Sirius, etc. Are all human and have all done horrible things and hurt others. But they have also done good things and shouldn't be judged only on what bad they have done. I highly dislike Harry, James and Sirius (as well as Umbitch and Voldy too) but I'm not going to ignore what they did in the book and others shouldn't either.

You know it's bashing when you have to re write and ignore parts of the book, and the characters personality and actions to make a character fit into a villains mold.

My view on Snape

To be clear I do acknowledge that Snape is an asshole and he did do some very bad things and was horrible to most other people (with the exception of a few). He has major flaws and the things he did do wrong were wrong and I will not try to excuse what he did but merely try to understand him and why he did what he did.

I am a HUGE Severus Snape fan and defender. I know him psychologically and from reading the books. I believe that had the 'light' side not abused and tormented him on a daily bases then he wouldn't have turned to the dark side. Or maybe he would have. We don't know. JK on why he joined the Death Eaters: "Given his time over again Snape would not have become a Death Eater, but like many insecure, vulnerable people he craved membership of something big and powerful, something impressive... He was so blinded by his attraction to the dark side he thought Lily would find him impressive if he became a real Death Eater." - JK.

I agree that he did harbor some secret hate for lily, after all she was his only real friend, the only one who cared about him and then she abandoned him. Must of hurt. Word of god or JK stated that his real reason for befriending Avery and the others and joining the death eaters was (and this depressing) because he just wanted friends and to be accepted.

Doesn't make it right but its true. I do view Snape as a dick, an asshole, as a depressed, emotionally stunted, terrible teacher (you don't make a genius teach children and you don't make an emotionally stunted introvert teach ether. I think Snape is teaching because Dumbledore is making him) extremely intelligent but flawed man. He, and I got this from cannon, seems to get rather attached (to a degree) to anyone who shows him any caring, niceness, or just treats him like he has feelings. Like Dumbledore, Molly and Author, the three people in cannon that he never treats like shit, is mean, ignores, or is negative towards. Is kinda sad because it just shows how starved for affection he is and ultimately I think thats what drove him to the death eaters or what was a factor of that.

Alan Rickman and JK on Snape as a student: James and Sirius bullied Snape, which according to Alan Rickman caused the already lonely boy to further "shut himself in". Rowling further described the young Snape as insecure and vulnerable.

He is mean to Harry, yes, but I also think he's jealous of him. He's jealous because Harry can break rules, destroy Dumbledores office, do what ever he wants and he gets nothing but love from Dumbledore. Snape tries and in his emotionally stunted mind he just views Harry as a favored son (first book end of term feast, 150 points to Gryffindor) and that makes him angry. He makes the wolfsbane, teaches his class, Lupins class (once a month), has a house to run, does patrols during night time, gets knocked out, has a concussion, brings them (Sirius, and the trio) back, and then gets nothing for it. (3 rd book) that was an example of him not getting rewarded like everyone else.

So he retaliates and gets punished and he doesn't understand why he's being punished in the first place. (in his defense, Lupin was not fit to teach. And endangered the lives of the students by forgetting to take his potion) I don't see Snape as an adult, I see him as a 19 year old boy trapped in the body of an adult, forever frozen in time. The abuse and bullying probably just caused him to stop developing emotionally and somewhat mentally. And it does happen in real life to some people.

Snape is far from perfect, he will never be perfect and that's why I love him. I also would like to point out that after lily died, when he was spying and protecting potter...he wasn't gaining anything. He went into it full well knowing that he wasn't getting lily. I find it hard to believe that a selfish man would freely give up 16 years of his life in return for nothing except for utter contempt and dying alone in a pool of their own blood.

Alan Rickman on Snape and his extremely limited sense of humor: "Snape isn't one who enjoys jokes and I strongly fear that his sense of humour is extremely limited..."

As for looks..well I have always seen him, in my mind, as a young Alan Rickman. But this is just how I see him and everyone might see him and others differently regarding looks. Which I think is just cool. :)

In regards to his home life and the level of abuse he suffered, well we can't really say. We know that judging by his clothes and appearance and what he says and by the way he acts that he was neglected for sure and most likely emotionally abused. Now was he physically abused by his father or mother? we can't really say, all we can do is wait until Pottermore (JK) give us the answers we seek. But in my opinion, I do believe his father physically abused him but only because of the job, environment, and year. In Spinner's End we can safely say that they were extremely poor and that his father most likely had a factory job or something similar. People in those years and in those environments, drank a lot. Since most people arn't polite and sleepy drunks like me, he most likely became angry at the prospect of his wife not being able to produce money by magic and his son, who was equally useless (in his eyes), a freak, and skinny and weak. A son that he did not want, a son that was not as manly or butch as he liked, but instead skinny, intelligent, and not strong. A son that was useless in the mills. And maybe he got mad because his son was smarter then him. Who really knows.

It's also more likely that Eleen was the physically abused one and sometimes Severus would just bear the brunt of it if she got knocked out or something. We know his parents argued and that she cowered from him. And having a witch cower from a muggle tells us that she must be REALLY scared of him or what he might do.
