| The Wykkyd |
Author has written 8 stories for Harry Potter, Kingdom Hearts, and Teen Titans. So…for a bit (more) about myself: name: Wykkyd, The Wykkyd if you want to get really picky. age: College freshmen age. origin/ethnicity: I’m from the USA, so that would make me American...which is kind of a mix of everything, when you think about it. loves: Debating, drawing, coffee, writing, reading, T.S. Eliot, MUSIC, chai, shortbread, intelligent conversation, skiing, and warm places. hates: Slackers, being sick, and people who can’t keep their mouths shut. other stuff: I play the violin and the guitar, and I'm really into art and creative things, and fantasy writing. I'm homeschooled, and hope to go into forensic science in college. I love music in all shapes and forms, and if anyone knows of a band that should be ruling the world by now (but aren't because no one else is smart enough to realize their genius) I'd love to hear about them! The REALLY IMPORTANT section! June 6 .09 - I am part way through my third chapter-lengthed story right now, a Harry Potter fic called Thirteenth to Fifth. It's an AU story, non-magic, with a Harry/Draco pairing and a lot of mature themes. Out of all the stories I've written, this is the one I'm most proud of (at the moment). It's a little deeper than some of my other stuff, even TS. Go read! I go by a one-chapter-story-at-a-time rule to ensure that I complete all stories I start. So know right now that I will never discontinue a story, unless it was horrible to start with. Rest assured. As for the story I’m working on right now: Thirteenth to Fifth Harry Potter grew up in the dysfunctional Dursley family, which collapsed after the death of Dudley. When Petunia died shortly after Vernon and Harry were displaced to the slums of the city, where Harry learned to withstand his uncle's brutal fists, grow up fast, and look out for himself. Now a paranoid and untrusting sophomore in high school, Harry takes a chance and auditions at the Fifth Avenue School of the Arts--the most prestigious art school in the city. When he gets in on a scholarship, Harry begins cultivating the academic and dance education that could very well get him out of Thirteenth District and into the life he's always wanted. But complications arise in his relationship with George Weasley, and then Draco Malfoy, aided by his abuse at home and his problems on the streets, and Harry's life at school begins to fall apart along with his life at home. When his street life and school life collide, Harry is forced to make a choice between the friends he grew up with and the friends and school that could make him into a dancer on the largest stages in the world. Stories I'm planning for the future: I'm trying to get this TT story on the role, see below, but I've had a really HP-inspired winter and spring. I have another, fairly developed H/D story that is WAY different from all the other stories I've posted here. It really explores the psychology of high school, bullying, and those considered to the the 'insiders' and the 'outsiders'. While I'd consider some of the issues I confront in my stories to be fairly deep, I'd say the extreme realities of this story in the works are probably the most intriguing. Also, and ohmygod I'm ashamed to even admit this, but I have a nice and angsty HP/Twilight crossover story, with a Harry/Edward pairing. It's fun to write when I'm stuck on the story I'm writing now. It's funny though, because I hate Twilight more than all of my friends combined, yet somehow, I love writing Harry/Edward. Teen Titans was my first introduction to the world of Fanfiction, and yet I've really neglected it. So got a few ideas cooked up, and I mixed them around and baked them at 350 degrees for a long time, and it came out as a...Red X story! There are a few TT characters that I find especially interesting: Slade, Robin, Red X, and Raven. Because Raven and Slade and Robin are all really central characters, I thought Red X would be fun to explore. I've got a few chapters written out and inevitably Robin snuck in there (because he is my favorite super hero of all time and space), but if I ever find time to finish it and post it I think it has potential. No slash though, because I've posted very little of my non-slash stuff here and it's not very representitive of everything I write. 'Nuff rambling... My comments on completed stories: Track Season This was a really fun story to write, even looking back on it I'm very happy with how it turned out, especially because when I began it I had very little knowledge about the KH realm. I go back and read it every once in a while for the entertainment value. There isn't much I would change with it, although there are a few characters who I don't think I portrayed perfectly. Taste Of Violence This is my favorite story I've posted here, save for Thirteenth to Fifth. I don't even know why I like it so much, but I do. The violence and passion were so much fun to write, and the graphic images I see in my head are always very vivid. I image in this story in black and white and red, with a Sin City vibe to it. Forgiveness This was sitting in ‘Documents’ for some time until I did a bit of spring cleaning and turned it into a completed one-shot. It was going to be a longer Sirius/Remus fic, but now it’s just a one-shot, without pairings. Some people see slash in this, and others don't. It's what you're looking for, I guess. Catalyst This was my first Harry/Draco story…and now I’m addicted to the pairing. It’s so…fitting, in a really strange way. Ironic, even. This story is definitely not as well written as say, TS, or stuff I've worked on really recently, but I still kind of like it. Eventually I'll probably take it off FFN, just because I'm going to outgrow it one of these days. Black Silk This is the epilogue/sequel to Catalyst. It’s pretty self-explanatory. I was really hesitant to write that sex-scene in there, but I succumbed to popular demand from my readers for Catalyst, and figured I’d just put it in there. The piece was fun to write, though. I really like doing one-shots because they're such 'no strings attached' business. What Is Right, And What Is Easy This was sort of inspired by Catalyst, in a way. While I was writing that, I started thinking of random and far-off endings to the story. This was a contender, but I found it too sad and un-satisfying. It was also a personal challenge to myself: to write a sad story. I’ve always been sort of emotionally-unaffected by writing, movies, art (media in general), so I wanted to see if I could write a story that inspired some emotion in others. I discovered that I could, to a degree, and that my emotionally-unaffected-ness is just weird. I'll admit it! This could be one of my favorites that I've posted on FFN, actually. I don't find it entirely believable after taking a step back, but I still love the piece. Twenty Questions Uh...old story. I remember it being fun to write, and it's cute and fun to read, but definitely an older work of mine. Inspired by the time I got locked out of my house a few summers ago, in the rain, and sadly without any black-haired gryffindors to entertain me. Also my first Sirius/Remus piece.
