Hello, all!

I'm the Maid of Imladris, or MoI--or, for the less penname-inclined, just Lee. In one of my numerous dream worlds, I'm one of the elves that resides at Imladris; keeping a fairly low profile, skulking in dusty corners of libraries, and scrubbing pots and pans, mopping floors, etc.

Well, someone's got to do it, right?

In reality, however, I am neither an elf nor a maid (though I do boast two X chromosomes), and reality is (for better or worse) where I spend most of my time. Here, I'm a teenaged American who enjoys reading and writing, and remains socially clueless despite great effort. I don't post on this account anymore, as I became disenchanted with FF.N a year or so ago, but I do read fics here when I have the time, and occasionally review stuff.

In what little free time I have that I don't spend traversing the wilds of the internet, I enjoy all things language-related, studying history, petting my cat, and putting my political soapbox to good use. (Note: Of the many things that annoy me, stupid people rank very highly, as well as the U.S. government in general, no matter how much I respect President Obama. Also on that particular list are religious zealots (of any faith), close-minded people, and anyone that refuses to listen to sound reasoning, particularly a certain Bill O'Reilly).

Fandom-Related Things That I Enjoy: interesting plots, complex characters, steampunk, good humor, gray areas, respect (if not strict obedience) to/for canon, good spelling/grammar, unique things, and well-written AUs. I will try most things once, though there are some squick lines that I generally don't cross. Well-written romances, either het or slash, are fine. Well-written angst/humor is fine. Pointless smut is less fine, though I am more than happy to live and let live. Fics glorifying or minimizing rape, abuse, etc. are not fine. As a general rule, however, I don't flame; I'm a big fan of con-crit, both as per giving and receiving.

If you can convince me that a certain plot/pairing is realistic/not TOO far out of the realms of possibility, I'll give it a shot. The biggest selling points for me, though, are readability and interest. 'Txt-tlk' makes me to flee the scene rather quickly.

Books/Movies/Other Things That I Enjoy: The Silmarillion, Lord of the Rings, Good Omens, Battlestar Galactica (both remake and original), CSI, Death Note, anything Shakespeare, most Tamora Pierce, most Robert Heinlein, A Knight's Tale, King Arthur, Final Fantasy VII, Aladdin (oddly enough), Pirates of the Caribbean, the Aubrey/Maturin series (that's what the publishers call it, I swear!), Horatio Hornblower, anything AoS, Sherlock Holmes, the Peter Wimsey novels, Neverwhere, Red Storm Rising, etc.

The Silmarillion is, and likely will always remain, number one.

Currently Reading: The Zombie Survival Guide, because you never know if a zombie apocalypse is just around the corner.

My favorites lists have not been updated in years, and aren't likely to be anytime soon. Apologies all around.

NOTE: 9/22/08

Due to the fact that NaNoWriMo is coming up soon, my recent departure from fandom into the scary realms of original fiction, and a plethora of RL reasons, my time here is going to shrink even more. Again, apologies to anyone who happens to care :)

NOTE: 6/18/09

Lots of old stuff deleted from this account because the general level of crappiness of my old work was annoying me. And was also slightly humiliating.
