Why am I on this website?

Like pretty much everyone else here, I simply couldn't get enough from the canon form of my favorite series, thus I had to turn to fanon so that I could satisfy my cravings for more material from these fictional realms. Pretty soon however, I managed to exhaust this website of all the quality fics out there of the categories I preferred. Eventually, it became evident that if I wanted to read a fanfiction adhering to a particular genre, I have the option of either going through this website with a fine-toothed comb or I could stop whining about their lack thereof and write my own pieces. I decided to do both. After reading any number of badly written fanfics, it has made me quite reluctant to torture my audience with substandard drivel. Thus I do not post anything on this website unless my very picky beta-readers and myself are satisfied with the contents. In real life, I am a very prosaic and practical person. I use fanfiction to help release my inner dreamer. Like other authors on this site, I find the process of creative writing to be strangely cathartic.

What I hate in fanfiction?

When writing or reading fanfictions, I despise OCs and mary sues. I have nothing against OCs as I myself make heavy use of them, but I hate it when an original character comes out of nowhere and seduces a canon character, or worse miraculously solve all the issues that had originally drawn people to the fandom.

I despise M-Pregs, and although I am a slash fan, and have read M-Preg stories, I always skip over the parts that go into gross details of the pregnancy.

I also hate Shotacon and rape fics, especially when the victim falls in love with the rapist. Please spare me. And if you want two characters to get on with it, please make sure they are both adults or at the very least sexually active. I remember coming across an ItaNaru fic, where the pair get involved, and Naruto is only FIVE. People that's just sick and wrong (And yes, I reported it and it is no longer on this site).

I like some very select songfics, but I have yet to find one that has impressed me. Most of them are crap.

I despise abuse fics (although I may end up writing one myself - I know, I know... I can be a bit hypocritical sometimes).

I also hate it when authors completely change the personality of a canon character to the point where they are beyond recognition. (Again, I am guilty of hypocrisy as one of my reviewers have pointed out. Read Transcendence. Harry is not Canon at all, I know. Canon Harry makes me want to strangle him. This is the boy I had hoped he would grow up to be. Instead JKR provides us with an angty protagonist with the emotional maturity of a six year old, who doesn't even have the decency to at least look pretty. Every other angsty protagonist has die hard good looks and a massive fanbase, so why can't Harry be the same? After all he did have gorgeous parents.)

I'm a 22 year old female of South Asian Descent and Canadian Citizenship. I want a pet cat, but my Mom threatens to disown me if I ever bring one home. And should I ever move out, she still refuses to let me get a cat. She threatens to never visit me ever again. As a child, her family's pet cat had traumatized her pretty badly, so I kind of get where she is coming from. We have three goldfishes. I tell my family that fishes are not pets, they are decorative, like houseplants. No one pays any attention to me. sigh

Lately I have been searching for friendship fics involving characters typically cast as a slash pairing, and not surprisingly, I have been met with little success. I should love to read a multichapter friendship fic involving SasuNaru, RoyEd, HPSS, CainRiff, ItaNaru, etc. I have found a couple of old ones, but they are are typically discontinued for lack of reader traffic.
