Author has written 6 stories for Vampire High, Angel, and Blood Ties. Real name: Roz Turner Birthdate: 17/10/1987 Location: Manchester, UK Favourite movies: Goodfellas, Casino, Pulp Fiction, Serenity, Kill Bill, The Others, Interview With the Vampire, The Hours, American Psycho Favourite TV shows: TRUE BLOOD(!!), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Vampire High, The Simpsons, Family Guy South Park, Little Britain, The Catherine Tate Show, Blood Ties Favourite bands/artists: Muse, Marilyn Manson, Goldfrapp, Portishead, Garbage, The Cardigans, Philip Glass, KT Tunstall, Radiohead, Darling Violetta, Carrie Underwood, La Roux, deadmau5 Favourite books: 'A Room of One's Own' by Virginia Woolf, 'The House of the Spirits' by Isabel Allende, 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' by J.K Rowling, 'The Handmaid's Tale' by Margaret Atwood, 'Brave New World' by Aldous Huxley, 'Bareback' by Kit Whitfield. Favourite fandoms: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Blood Ties, Vampire High...but I'll read pretty much anything with a plot, to be honest! I am loving the growing community of the Being Human fandom also :D Favourite type of fanfic (to read): I don't like slash, shippers or anything OOC really – I enjoy dark fics or stories that show real thought and craftmanship. Not that I'm fussy or anything. Writing influences: I feel greatly influenced/inspired by the writing of Margaret Atwood, Virginia Woolf and, in particular Anne Rice and Kit Whitfield. Whilst Anne Rice is not one of my favourite authors (although she did used to be when I was a teenager! - which wasn't that long ago, before you start wondering how old I am ;) ), I feel heavily influenced by her descriptive writing style rather than her general narrative as such. I also take a lot of my descriptive writing cues from Kit Whitfield who uses a more modern, first-person perspective in 'Bareback'; I always use third person narrative, but Ms Whitfield certainly does have an amazingly astute way of describing the characters' environment, which is something I really admire. Works in progress: Fandom: Vampire High The Powers Within - the follow-up to 'The Slow Turning'. This is quite challenging, as I have to write for all the night-schoolers, as well as the day-schoolers! Chapters 1 - 3 are up currently - I haven't worked on this for quite some time, but when I've finished a couple of BT fics that I'm working on at the moment I'm sure to come back to it :) updates will come eventually! Fandom: Blood Ties Winner Takes All - my first official Blood Ties fanfic! This is a work in progress, chapters 1 - 4 are up at the moment and I will be coming back to this during December. Chapter 5 is nearly done and dusted, at least it will be once it has been deemed fit to read by heavy editing machinery. I'm really enjoying writing this; femme fatales are my thing (infer from that what you will...) and Christina is such a fun character to write for! Future Imperfect - this was originally going to be part of the Blood Ties Season 2 collaborative project; unfortunately, said project was eventually disbanded so I'm probably going to post this as a standalone story. Kudos for the idea goes to all members of the BT virtual season as this wasn't mine - I believe coming up with the idea itself was a collaborative effort (not including myself) as I couldn't find exactly the person on our forum that suggested the idea, therefore I'll say thanks now to MarieWynn, Magess, WiliQueen and everyone else who contributed to the season and helped me out with this particular story as far as it got before we all disbanded. You can check out their info (and amazing fanfics) at each of their ff.net profiles: http://www.fanfiction.net/~mariewynn http://www.fanfiction.net/~magess http://www.fanfiction.net/~wiliqueen Original fiction: The Asylum Diaries - NaNoWriMo 2009 - that's right people: I am officially part of the 30 days and nights of literary abandon, but this time I refuse to be beaten like I was last year! I'd love to hear from anyone else embarking on the same terrifying journey into their own creations, and you can check out some more info about me, and my fledgling novel The Asylum Diaries, at my official NaNoWriMo profile page, where I am also known as madascheese btw: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/457221 Planned upcoming projects: Apart from either heavily editing or burning my first draft of The Asylum Diaries after November, I'm already thinking of creating my own sort of season 2 for Blood Ties - I think it deserves it! I've also been trying desperately to think of some way that I could write for True Blood but, in my mind, it's already pretty much perfect. I don't think anything I could write could enhance the experience of the show!! Once Winner Takes All is done I'll definitely get onto Future Imperfect (which is bound to be a bit of a long one, btw), and I think that Future Imperfect will probably provoke a sequel once it's eventually finished ;) | |||||||||||
