chibi is the japanese word for small as anyone knows and if you say mii in an english/dutch way you can hear 'me'. I'm 1.64m, and for the Dutch is that not so tall. In fact, all my friends are taller and younger. One of them calls me 'small' or something equal to it...so it stuck.
