Losing yourself in a fantasy, escaping your own reality: FanFiction

The 19 Rules for good Riting:
Each pronoun agrees with their antecedent.
Just between you and I, case is important.
Verbs has to agree with their subject.
Watch out for irregular verbs which has cropped up into our language.
Don't use no double negatives.
A writer mustn't shift your point of view.
When dangling, don't use participles.
Join clauses good like a conjunction should.
And don't use conjunctions to start sentences.
Don't use a run-on sentence you got to punctuate it.
About sentence fragments.
In letters themes reports articles and stuff like that we use commas to keep strings apart.
Don't use commas, which aren't necessary.
Its important to use apostrophe's right.
Don't abbrev.
Check to see if you any words out.
In my opinion I think that the author when he is writing should not get into the habit of making use of too many unnecessary words which he does not really need.
Then, of course, there's that old one: Never use a preposition to end a sentence with.
Last but not least, avoid cliches like the plague.

Update: 9/2/09: SPOILERS AHEAD: I just finished reading Catching Fire, the second book in the Hunger Games series. To say that I loved it would be the truth... To say that nothing bugged me would be a lie. While the plot was wholly unexpected (although I totally knew that they would find a way to break through the arena before, don't ask me how) it did not hide the fact that it was very rough. The amazing attention to detail that held in the first book went up into flames here; while before it was a nice pace and what needed to be included was included, this book seemed not only very, very repetitive, but also including details that weren't vital.

Katniss's relationship with her sister, Prim, which was the whole reason to win the games in the first place, completely dies away. Prim is in all but four pages of the book. While the whole Gale/Katniss thing took a nice turn, it's beginning to irk me that Katniss cannot decide between Peeta or Gale. No girl can be this dense. Plus, the whole relationship triangle in general was bad... I know the wedding and the 'pregnany' were vital, but what with Katniss turning into a mockingjay as well, were they really required then and there? It was much too busy in parts of the book, I literally had to stop and put down the book for a while to think.

The rebelion on the capitol was great, and probably the best part of the book to notice the details of the uprising I hadn't spotted before. However, mostly everything else was rushed and staged and repetitive. Another Games? More Katniss/Peeta bullshit? New faces, new people to memorize? All in all, as a writer and a crtic, this book fell short of my expectations. Perhaps, if Collins had taken the time to plan out the character's (this is another thing that got me from the get-go: Katniss has no definitive personality, and nor does Peeta. Almost no one does) actions and begin the book with the re-introduction to her home after months away, it would have been different. I love this series deeply, but like most books I read, I seem to always have something to pick on.

Rules I LIVE by:

1. I am a vegan. I will forever think that, come the choice between saving animals and humans, animals should be picked hands down. The human race has turned them into slaves, into what they were never meant to be. I think that is so incredibly wrong it's almost sickening. I am an animal rights activist. Piggy's don't deserve slop... :/

2. I will forver and always think that Harry Potter is better than Twilight. Not only that, I think almost any book is better than Twilight. Twilight's characters are shallow and have no personality, apart from their love lives. The book is repetitive and is written by an author who seems to think criticism is beyond her. I won't go on, because I could go on all day, but I am very willing to have a NICE debate over why it's a horrible book. insert evil laugh here

3. No one in the whole wide world matters more to me than Joanna. She's my best friend and the only one I will ever need. We have taught eachother so much, and it's because of her that I'm able to laugh when I'm dying, know when to stop, and to never hurt somene like she has been hurt. I lurvs you, Jo!

4. I write. It is my life and my deepest love, and I don't know how to live without it. I'm not bad, but I'm not horrible either. I'm hoping I'll progress with time... Eh, time does weird things sometimes.

5. I don't believe in Heaven or Hell. I debate a lot whether God is real, and I believe that if he is, he doesn't control ANYTHING. He is just a guardian angel of sorts. I believe that your soul will live forever, and there are young souls (who are immature) and old souls (who are very wise.) You can stay on earth after you die to look after a loved one, I think. I have no problem with people who believe differently. I WILL have a problem with anyone who says bad things about my religion. Or...well, it's not really a religion. Just a belief.

There was a clatter as the baskilisk fangs cascaded out of Hermione's arms. Running at Ron, she flung them around his neck and kissed him full on the mouth. Ron threw away the fangs and broomstick he was holding and responded with such enthusiasm that he lifted Hermione off her feet.
"Is this the moment?" Harry asked weakly, and the when nothing happened except that Ron and Hermione gripped each other still more firmly and swayed on the spot, he raised his voice. "OI! There's a war going on here!"
Ron and Hermione broke apart, their arms still around each other.
"I know mate," said Ron who looked as though he had recently been hit on the back of the head with a bludger, "so it's now or never, isn't it?"

Hermione slid out of her bunk and moved like a sleepwalker toward Ron, her eyes upon his pale face. She stopped right in front of him, her lips slightly parted, her eyes wide. Ron gave a weak, hopeful smile and half raised his arms.
Hermione launched herself forward and started punching every inch of him that she could reach.
"Ouch - ow - geroff! What the - ? Hermione - OW!"
"You - complete - arse - Ronald - Weasley!"
She punctuated every word with a blow: Ron backed away, shielding his head as Hermione advanced.
"You - crawl - back - here - after - weeks - and - weeks - oh, where's my wand?"

Beast Boy: Told ya we'll win you a prize.
Raven: A giant chicken. I must be the luckiest girl in the world.

Dr. Light: No one defeats Dr. Light! No one!
Raven: (Appears behind Dr. Light) Remember me?
