Author has written 111 stories for Artemis Fowl, Harry Potter, Song of the Lioness, Old Kingdom/Abhorsen series, Discworld, Primeval, Immortals, Tamora Pierce, Protector of the Small Quartet, Star Trek: 2009, Good Omens, and Lord of the Rings.

It's been a long time. I know, and I'm sorry. Some things, I can't do anything about. My life has changed immeasurably over the last year, in some ways for the better, in some ways for the worse, and certainly for the not-terribly-predictable- but, you know, my life, I'm quite attached to it. I'm sorry that it's meant that I've completely lost the thread of some fics, and failed to update others, but like I said: some things, I can't do anything about.

I'm still around. I'm just... lurkier.

Before we go anywhere-

If you happen to know me in real life, and have somehow found your way to this profile, let me just take this opportunity to warn you that this is where all the fanfic stuff I write goes. It has no relation to real life whatsoever. As a rule, I don't discuss it in real life either.

I don't provide explanations for the fic that gets deposited here except in extraordinary circumstances and I can almost guarantee you won't like all of it. Much of it is older work that only exists because I can be highly sentimental about earlier efforts. I do not intend to provide any explanations, except, again, in extraordinary circumstances. There are some fics I would prefer you not to read: however, I cannot stop you.

TL;DR: If you like it, fine and good. If you don't like it, I don't need to know.

Five things you really need to know about me, and may as well save time by finding out now:

1) I need reminding to update. Reviews are a very useful form of author-prod.

2) I suffer, if such is the correct word, from a persistent and erratic allergy to chatspeak which, alas, nothing will shift.

3) I am an avid reader, and well-versed in canon. If it's AU, it's because I meant it to be AU, and telling me is not worth the bother.

4) I am a compulsive writer, and often write birthday presents, cheer-up fic or challenges. So if you spot something that seems totally out of my comfort zone, and quite a lot of this is, it's almost certainly because someone else persuaded me to write it.

5) My icon is from citadel_icons on livejournal.

Five things you do not need to know about me, and will only find yourself wasting your time if you ask:

1) How old I am.

2) Where I live.

3) My email address.

4) What my real name is.

5) My reasons for killing off/pairing up characters. Queries such as 'OMG, why did u kill him of, he was the BEST!!11! bring him back now!1!' don't recommend themselves to me.

On the subject of flames-

I will not flame your story because I do not like the pairing; I myself would take such actions much amiss. Personally, I use flames to warm up the terrible English weather or put them to work on the barbecue, or possibly my trig homework. I may leave something that may be construed as flames should you have a thin skin a) because my people skills are not always that great and b) I love the English language and one of my pet peeves is bad spelling and grammar.

As Far As Grammar Goes:

Then refers to time- e.g. Then I wrote a book. I wrote a book then. Then I will write a book.

Than is used with the comparative- e.g. My book is better than yours.

To affect: I'm sorry if I affected your performance in that exam. I was greatly affected by it.

To effect: I effected a change in the political order.

You never, ever, have an affect on someone. It is always an effect.

Definitely is definitely NOT spelt definately.

"Don't just leave me like this! I need punctuation at the end of my speech too"

Kindly do not use the phrase 'should of' as in 'I should of done something'. A signpost word for the genitive declension has no place in the pluperfect tense. You should have put the word 'have' where you put the word 'of', e.g. I should have done something.

Notes:

I strongly encourage anyone who likes Tamora Pierce to check out Fief Goldenlake, a fantastic site set up by Kat (treanz-alyce) and run by her, Isha (ubiquitous girl) and a bunch of other awesome people- among whom I don't count myself, being disgustingly underactive. Still, site's brilliant. Slight obsession with Wyldon/Kel. Small problem with zombie!Roger. Writing challenges till they're coming out of your ears. Also highly recommended is a new Tamora Pierce fanfic site, formed after the splitting of the Tamora Pierce categories by series. The same people who run Goldenlake set it up, and it's called The King's Own. It's simple to use, easy to browse, allows you to create series, lets you label the fic with specific warnings (e.g. 'violence') and has excellent character filters, so if you're looking for fic about Alanna you don't have to search 'Alanna' and hope that authors of fics about said character put her name in the summary. http://www.thekingsown.org/index.php

A final note- Being of an enquiring mind and having checked my Stats page, I know that lots of people read my stories and I hope they enjoy them. But I can't improve and change errors if I don't get feedback!
