Author has written 88 stories for StarTrek: The Next Generation, X-Files, Lois and Clark, Smallville, and StarTrek: Voyager.

I'm currently a PhD student so if I don't write for a while, it's because of papers, problem sets, and research. And yes, I know - my writing is all over the place right now, though I'm mostly writing Voyager, and yes I'm in the middle of several stories - they'll get finished when the muse says so. But they will, eventually, get finished, unless I meet an untimely demise.

I started writing X-Files fanfic my senior year in college, and it's Darken's (that's an alias, but she knows who she is) fault, because she introduced me to the wonders of the show, and also told me that fanfic existed. Luckily, I'd mostly finished my course work before my senior year, so I had time to write.

Star Trek: TNG was the first show I really fell in love with - as a child, I dreamed about waking up in Dr. Crusher's sickbay, having been cryogenically frozen, and living out the rest of my life on the Enterprise. My first TNG fanfic was "The Ketlekal," based upon an idea that had rattled around in my head when I was eleven or twelve years old - I had planned to send a script into Paramount, but I was possibly even busier in junior high and high school than I am now, plus I was just a kid and had no idea how to write a script and submit it (and the show ended shortly thereafter). I finally got around to writing it because I figured that I'll go senile soon and if I didn't write it down, I'd probably forget all about it. I was looking for a place to post it when I found this site, but the username I'd published my X-Files fic under ("Pearl") was already taken, so I took a new one, "Singing Violin," based upon Me In Real Life.

Then there was Lois & Clark. My father used to watch that show and I'd enjoyed it on occasion. When it finally came out on DVD, I fell in love with it all over again, and started my first L&C fanfic, "The Unborn," which I promise I will finish once I figure out where it's going. (I know how it ends, but when I started writing it, I didn't have the Season 4 DVD's yet, and my memory of Season 4 was wrong, so now I have to figure out how to mesh it back with what I know now).

I really enjoy most of the Superman incarnations, and am a fan of Smallville, which has thus far inspired two little ficlets ("Lament" and "Languid"). "Languid" is listed as "in progress" only because someone requested a continuation, but I meant it to stand on its own. One of these days I might feel like writing more to it.

In the meantime, I finally bought the DVD's for (and watched, over school vacations) all the Star Trek series up through Voyager. I haven't written TOS or DS9 fic (yet - Spock's my favorite ST character ever - and in DS9 I loved Odo/Kira and liked Worf/Jadzia too), but Voyager has me completely enthralled. I'm probably even more of a Janeway/Chakotay shipper than a Picard/Crusher shipper (possibly because of TPTB's utter failure to address the obvious devotion between the two characters, unlike the PC relationship which they at least explored a little bit in the last season).

Other guilty pleasures (and possibly a source of fanfic at some point in the future) include Xena: Warrior Princess (Xena/Gabrielle of course, and also Xena/Ares), Buffy (Buffy/Angel of course, also Willow/Xander), and Angel (all Fred; I seriously hate the Angel/Cordelia thing).

I've also been known to write (angsty and bad) poetry and non-fanfic stories. I'm a grammar and spelling nut, so my stories tend to be well-edited (though occasional typos do get past me, and if people point them out, I will fix them promptly). I do read (and, often, enjoy immensely) other people's fic, but it's a big turnoff when it's not in proper English (poem is not mine, but it's cute). If you aren't sure of the difference between "loose" and "lose" or "affect and "effect" or just want to disambiguate in general, I urge you to check out Brian's Errors. (I admit it, I am a doryphore.)

The one thing I cannot abide (bad spelling annoys me, but I'll probably still read it if it's interesting) in a story is a Mary Sue, especially an author-insert. There seem to be a lot of them here, and no matter how well-written they are, I just can't get into them (and have never had any desire to write one). I want to read and write about the characters on the show, and, on occasion, creative new characters that belong in the fictional universe. I really don't care about the author's alter-ego, and once I identify a character as a self-insert (it's usually obvious: e.g. "twenty-first-century teen" is a dead giveaway) the one thing that would keep me interested is if the character were to die. Immediately. (Thanks, MAU.)

I hope you enjoy my stories, reviews are always appreciated, and I promise to keep writing when I can.

Thank you to LitaOsiris for the lovely avatar.

A note about feedback: I appreciate all feedback and don't take constructive criticism personally. HOWEVER, if you have something negative to say about my story, I appreciate the opportunity to talk to you about it. Posting negative reviews anonymously is, IMHO, cowardly, and I will probably just delete them unless for some reason they amuse me. If you want to help me improve my writing, you shouldn't be afraid to at least leave a name and an email address if you don't have an account. (Note that the email address only goes to me; it does not show up in the review.) I promise I won't bite, but I will give you a thoughtful answer to your criticism if I disagree with it.

A note about constructive criticism: some people (e.g. SVoyagerfan, aka Innocent Pen, aka Stalker Violin, aka Sardonic Violin, aka 123456789987654321, aka Gretchen Janeway, aka Peach Tea Roses, aka SMM Sweet, aka memyselfandI988, aka Voyager Fan4Ever, aka Sweet Music Man, aka Denise Dick from Warren, Ohio who, by the way, is a cyberbully and cyberstalker so be careful if you talk to her; everything she says is a lie and she will play the victim and eventually accuse you of doing to her what she is doing to you; she has caused a lot of trouble and I don't want anyone else to get hurt; I asked ffnet to delete her accounts after she posted some particularly nasty attacks, but they won't do it because she'll just get new identities and start over; better she keep the ones she has so you know who to avoid) seem to have trouble distinguishing constructive criticism from flames. Constructive is when the review (a) makes it obvious the reader has actually read the story, and (b) provides solutions for any problems identified. (It is also polite, though unnecessary, to include praise with the criticism.) A good example is a spelling correction. Anything else (negative) is a flame, is almost certainly intended to be obnoxious, and, if it's a review of my story, will end up with the reviewer getting blocked permanently. I don't believe in "revenge," however - retaliation is the root of all our problems with violence in this world - so don't worry that I'm going to return the favor. I'm just going to ignore you and try as best as I can to prevent you from doing it again. I urge others to do the same.

Okay, latest on the stalker woman; I can't keep track of all her username changes, so here's all her user ID #'s that I know about:
