My Stories

I usually write for Final Fantasy VII, but I'm a fan of nearly all the most recent Final Fantasy installments, particularly FFIX. I write mostly genfic, because I like plot and I like character introspection and I like friendship and I don't think there's enough of this around, as fandom seems to be dominated by romance and obsessed by pairings. Which is fine: I like a dash of romance as well and I've written two fics in the romance genre, but I prefer gen. So if there's a niche in the Final Fantasy fandom, I've done my best to fill it by writing about less popular characters, such as Red XIII. And Stiltzkin. Stiltzkin is awesome and deserves more love.

Reviewing

Naturally, I like getting reviews. I am happy to accept constructive criticism - I'm not adverse to editing, particularly when it comes to WiPs. And I like simple positive reviews too - nothing wrong with an ego boost. ;) Basically, any kind of review is fine with me, so long as it's polite.

When it comes to giving reviews, I try to be honest, and sometimes offer constructive comments. Feel free to message me if you want to discuss any criticisms I've made, and I may go into more detail. Just no flaming, please. I'm only trying to be helpful. It's a shame how many writers take constructive criticism as a personal attack. Please remember that we can all improve - I am not attacking you; my advice is intended to help you improve your writing. Nobody has to take my advice, but I'd rather not be flamed for giving it.

Beta Reading

I'm a registered beta reader - go take a look at my profile for more information.

I have to say, it is quite a snazzy new feature. It's definitely helped me to find good beta readers. I used to publish all my stuff without using a beta reader. Now I rarely publish anything which hasn't been looked over by someone else first. It means that it might take me longer to update, but I think it's worth it. I'd like to thank everyone who has ever devoted their time to helping me - you know who you are. And I'd like to give a particular shout-out to Martin III and Katana of the Jade Wings, who are currently beta reading new chapters of Mercenaries. All of you guys rock.

Genfic c2

I started a c2 for good Final Fantasy VII genfic, which so often goes unnoticed. I would love recommendations! If you know of any decent genfic, whether you've written it yourself or you read someone else's, please PM me and let me know. Any story which does not focus on a romantic pairing counts as genfic, and it's surprising how rare that is. PM me if you'd like to become a staff member too.
