Currently, I'm an ex-student of Film and TV Production in the North-East of Britain and I'm working for a very meagre living...
I own a cat, a '360, and a battered 3 year old laptop with one key missing (the number 9) that doesn't work full-stop now, as it has finally burnt through its power cable and given up the ghost...
I've been a member here for about five years I think, after I discovered my absolute love of Anime (thanks to a friend in Art College called "Monkey-man" heh) and ended up watching the Holy Trinity; Akira, Spriggan, and Ghost in the Shell.
Monkey-man introduced me to NG:Evangelion, MS Nadesico, and film after film. Some time later, once I had moved out of my mum's house and into the closest city (some 30 minutes drive away) I was introduced to Azumanga Daioh, RahXephon, Gunslinger Girl, Read or Die and a whole host of others. Given this, the proximity of what-was Virgin Megastores and HMV, my film collection (and anime collection) rose from a meagre 10 films to a current record of approximately 180+ films, 9 full series of anime, and 5 partial collections. The nearby Forbidden Planet International store led to a completed Preacher collection, a work-in-progress Evangelion collection, and a few juicy one-off graphic novels every once in a blue moon.
I have one tattoo, but hope to get another sometime later. I have a Provisional driving license, and hope (again) to have my Full license before the end of this week.
My first actual fanfiction is the one I am currently writing, "Next", and although I have plenty of practice writing scripts and screenplays for submission to wannabe directors and competitions, I've never sat down and written in the novel-style before.
I'd also like to apologise, because I don't actually plan anything for that fiction. I sit on my bed (I don't own a desk or chair in my 'workroom') and type, upload, format, and post. That's the secret of posting four chapters in less than 10 hours hehe!
I am a strange guy, in that my personal foreign policy is that no-one should come to my country without being able to speak English decently. Before you grab your pitchforks though, let me say this;
I can speak French, German, Czech and Japanese to a passable extent, and am learning Russian.
I think anyone going to ANY country should learn a little of the language before going, and the phrase "Where is the British Embassy?" is a bloody essential. It screams ignorance when you try to get by, by only shouting louder and louder in someone's face, or demanding they speak English because you couldn't be bothered.
Anyway, me in a nutshell;
My name is Martin, I like films and writing, ramen, and playing on my xbox. My hobbies include painting, writing fanfiction (which you all immediately see the results of) and airsofting (google it). My dislikes are pretentious people, the unintelligent, and people who refuse to learn good grammar, spelling, or use the word "totally" in idle conversation (e.g. "you can TOTALLY see her tits, man..."). My dreams for the future are...
