I love putting myself in the stories, granted i change the names. I also love putting my friends in the stories to. I don't really like short chapters, that's why most of the chapters in my stories are annoyingly long. But i do make my prologues short. They're usually between 2- 13 pages, whereas my chapters must be between 18+ pages long. (I Wish You Knew is like the only exception. Trust me the chapters will get longer) And yes when I write, I write frickin' novels lol. I don't usually read Fics that are 9,999 words or less, but if it's a pairing i like and it sounds mucho interesting i'll take a look.
