24/04/08: O happy day! So I just got accepted with a full scholarship to my Master's program of choice. As if that wasn't enough, today I received notification that I'm the recipient of an (extremely prestigious) external award worth 20k annually.
I'm floored because usually these big buck grants go to engineering/poli sci/neuroscience/biomed people with elaborate cancer-curing, world-poverty-solving, global-warming-reducing, oh-the-humanity-ing projects and not to enthusiastic English lit nerds. However! I too will change the world with my dissertation on the novel as an emerging genre in the 1700s and its participation in the cultural revolution which characterized the drone drone low monotonous hum buzz buzz drone.
God! I'm positively buoyant. I will now go find an engineer to hug.
Also: I'll be leaving for a trip to Central America in a couple of days & I'll be away until some time in early June. So mind you behave yourselves. And enjoy yourselves too because oh my god it's finally summer. Get a little sunburnt, stretch, vegetate, eat healthy, read some good books, explore, and above all, take it easy!

The moment of recognizing your own lack of talent is a flash of genius. - S. J. Lec
I would like to point out that I am acutely aware of the imperfections which continue to mar Marrow (until Ch. 10) and Uneasy Coexistence (still lingering despite reworking). Both are awaiting revisions to rid them of stilted dialogue, embarrassing plot-related naivety, various manifestations of imbecility and general amateurishness. Read at your own risk. (There is no great writing, only great rewriting. Wise words.)
