My mission: to write good stories and improve as a writer!

I'm on a mission, and I need your help.

Here's a problem that not only I but many authors have noticed: The average story on FanFiction.Net is poorly written. Quite frankly, a lot of stories out there suck. They really, really suck.

Here's the situation that I've noticed: A small percentage of FF.net authors care, they legitimately care about their stories and about writing. These authors are the ones to whom most authors look as examples. These authors are the role models. These authors are the ones who also see the problem. These authors have potential to improve other writers.

Here's the solution that I've devised: I recently created the Scroll & Pen Society, a fraternity for fan fiction authors advocating improved fan fiction writing. If enough authors can contribute and share their experiences and advice, and if we can get all this information in one place, and if we can provide easy access for readers to this place, then perhaps the quality of the average fan fiction will improve.

Now, I'm no fanfiction-writing god. I'm no professional. I'm only a college student who loves writing. I'm doing this for the sake of fan fiction.

I need help from all authors. If you could contribute a few paragraphs on basic elements of fiction, or a list of "do's" and "do not's," or just an intelligent rambling on fan fiction, I would be so grateful.

Karma: How the Tables Have Turned: Chapter 6 is up, probably 2 or 3 more chapters to go. The updates will be slower now because I'm going back to school very soon, I'm writing longer chapters, and the chapters themselves are more emotionally intricate. I'm struggling with the emotional intricacy, so sorry for the slow updates!
