Author has written 31 stories for Harry Potter, Smallville, and Twilight. 3-24-09 In response to a few recent reviews, I thought that it would be advisable to reiterate a few generalizations about my fics: There is actually a point to the prologues that I often put at the beginning of chapters. In many of my fic's, I use these paragraphs and reminders from other segments and chapters of my stories to set an emotion or cross-reference certain details that I want to slowly build points on. This is part of my writing style and an intentional decision in how I both develop characters and story plots. To undermine this development over something as meaningless as chapter length is pointless to me. As I have stated in my profile, you will not find me crying out 'mea culpa, mea culpa' over issues such as chapter length, point of view changes, or the use of vignettes to develop my stories. I realize, of course, that my writing style may not be everyone's cup of tea, but thankfully, FFnet is a wonderful place to find writers of many styles. To this end, readers who find my writing off-putting will be able to find many other authors who meet their needs as readers. Thank you for your review, and I hope you have a lovely day. You might have noticed two recent changes in my pen-name for two very different reasons, my first pen fell into the hands of someone from work, who definitely has a difficulty with the nature of some fics, and the second is to reflect that I am beginning to promote an original sci-fi/fantasy work... if anyone's interested in following it, I've been swallowed up by the facebook monopoly, and will be creating a web page with an original fic that I've been working on for the past two years. (Updated 1-05-09) Well, the date mentioned in the last update (below), seems to have come -in response to a reader, who seems to believe that because I have not posted an update to a story in several months, I have no interest in finishing it. Please let me assure you that I delete stories when I lose interest in them; however, it is true that there are sometimes long gaps between posts to a particular story- in some cases even as much a year. Due to time constraints, in real life, I've felt that I really can't revise beyond my own self-revision -- at the moment and get any thing posted within a normal time span. I promise, though, I will be finishing all of my stories (barring car accident, heart attack, or brain implosion). I'm sure, at some other date (updated 10/02/08), I will have more to say about myself and my writing, but for the moment, I have just one note: For anyone who needs to be told this: I do not own these characters, but as long as they keep coming over to my house, they are going to be put to work. Generalizations about all of my fics: While there are certainly readers who do and do not prefer slash, some of my stories, unashamedly, contain slash relationships. If it is not your cup of tea, I certainly understand; however, my writing is as I write it and -at the present time- I intend to keep it that way. Unless otherwise stated, HBP and DH have not, do not, and will not occur in any of my stories.I may refer to some of the details that it offers about Severus, Dumbledore, and Tom's earlier lives - BUT, the events of Harry's sixth year and seventh years, according to canon, did not occur... and probably will not occur. Chapter length: While I have seen others writers apologize for the brevity of their chapters, this isn’t something you’ll see me crying “mea culpa, mea culpa” over. Both The Tiniest Wish and Uncomfortably Familiar are generally built on short, mostly single scene, mini-vignettes that depict important moments. This is unlikely to change. Recaps: Yes, I know that readers can go back and re-read past chapters to catch up, and if that were the only reason I am using recaps, I probably wouldn’t be. There really is more to it. Falling Stars Just one chapter left, but it refuses to be written. Yes, I am thinking of a sequel. In Plain Sight, Gringott's Lesser Known Branch, and a Silver Eyed Owl -- were dueling over which gets posted next when Two Angry Men just jumped the line only to be trumped by It's Always the Quiet Ones, who snuck in from the shadows. Rude of it I know, but it kept whispering the most tantalizing little bits and I just had to give in. A small note about It's Always the Quiet Ones, while sub!Harry is a big part of this story, there's more to Neville than many realize - as he's about to reveal to a rather flummoxed Snape. Uncomfortably Familiar With respect to the possibility of both Draco and Harry becoming animagi, much less phoenix animagi, in my latest comments, I was not grouping Rita nor Minerva in age, only suggesting that statistically, the presence of so many people that Harry was acquainted with having the ability to become animagi implied that the rarity of becoming an animagus was not a physical or physiological difficulty but a skill that many wizards may not have sufficient desire to follow through on - like higher level math skills beyond calculus and differential equations. Also, regarding the fact that Harry and Draco both became phoenix: Draco went into it with his eyes open – wanting to change into what he knew, from the details of his life, he would be – a slight reference back to the title of the important text Becoming the Animal you Already Are. For Harry, who didn’t get to read the second text and had no idea what he would or could become, the change was a 'natural' occurrence of the change while Draco's was a choice - an important choice that will have an impact on the outcome.
