I'll just throw together a few things here for the intensely, or even mildly, curious. My "day job" is a junior high teacher in Washington State. My name is Laura, but I chose "rainiergirl" for my fanfic name because I can see Mt. Rainier from my back yard (until they build the new subdivision behind my house), and I am absolutely in love with that gorgeous mountain. I teach conflict resolution all day long, and in between those lessons I teach my assigned subjects of English and social studies. I've been at this a while, and all of my teaching experience has been in grades 6-9, so I am well familiar with confusion, angst, and rebellion. Comes in handy when creating characters.
Writing is a passion, and I've been doing it since I was a little girl. Before I was a teacher, I had a career as a journalist and editor, so the craft of writing has been a large part of who I am for a very long time. "Past and Present" is my first fanfiction piece written in story-telling form. I have many others that are written as scripts, the way they would read if they were to be made into episodes. I haven't posted them because even though I like them, they are for "corny" shows like "The Waltons." A great many of them are for a family show defunct these past ten years called "Snowy River: The McGregor Saga." If anyone expresses an interest, I'll get 'em out there, but doubt those shows, especially "Snowy River," have much of a fan base. Just wrote them for the joy of it.
