Someone told me that because I've only written yaoi pairings and have no favourite het pairings that I'm a sick, sick girl. I say that some people need to grow up and check my fav story list again. While it is rare for me to read Het pairings in Harry Potter fanfictions, there are some fandoms that I only read Het. Inuyasha for one. I happen to love reading Sess/Kag pairings or Inu/Kag. So maybe I am a sick, sick girl for mostly reading male/male pairings, but did you ever stop to think maybe I see you as a closed minded bigot that will never go far in life?
My Pet Peeves
I figure that since everyone else gets the chance to rant at me it's only fair that I get to rant back on my author's page.
I absolutely can't stand people who bash slash or femslash, or even those who read such stories. That's hypocritical and just inviting others to bash Het stories. Sure it's hard to find realistic slash stories, but that's the same for any pairing. Just take a look at some of the Anko/Naruto pairings or Harry/Tonks. As judgemental as this may sound, a lot of the ones I've read recently have been written by males that find it hot for the main character to be paired with an older woman even if he's only thirteen. As a man you may find it disturbing to read slash. Well as a woman I find it disturbing to read about a twenty something Anko dreaming about having sex with a thirteen year old Naruto. I don't get how a slash hater will read a story with a pedophile in it so long as it's not a male pedophile. Am I the only one that finds that a bit hypocritical? Not that all Het stories are like this, because they're not. I've read some really good ones, I'm just using this as an example.
People that mislabel pairing warnings. If I read a summary for a story that says DMHP, then I want DMHP. I don't want to read five chapters only to discover that when Draco appears he's nothing but a girl with man bits and Harry's turned into a bodybuilder overnight. I'm picky about the stories I'll read from start till finish and it horrifies me just how much time I've wasted reading stories that suddenly go downhill because the author has decided to make a dominant a sub. Yes I like Sub!Harry. No that doesn't mean I want to read about him being a little fairy all the time. The thought of Harry being more dominant than someone like Charlie however makes me want to roll on the floor laughing. So please save me some time and learn to put the dominant name first.
Reviewers that don't read the story before reviewing. Drives me absolutely nuts. I read them and I can pick apart their complaints just by scanning the chapter they reviewed. If you're going to take the time to try to flame someone, at least make sure you sound intelligent. Please. It saves me time, saves you humiliation, saves my readers from having to read a long ass review reply in the next chapter. So either read it properly the first time or don't waste your time reviewing.
Favourite pairings: I don't really have one. I'll read almost anything as long as it's well written. Can't say I'm a big fan of many Het pairings, if only because I don't like many female canon characters. Especially in the HP universe.
Fav HP Characters: Harry, Snape, Sirius, Lily, Voldemort at times.
Fav Naruto Characters: Yondaime Hokage, Kakashi, Tsunade.
My thoughts on Canon Harry Potter: I'm in denial from the middle of Ootp and the entirety of HBP. To me it never existed. Read DH on Boxing Day. Despised it. Hermione was beyond whiny, Ron abandoned Harry once again, and it was incredibly anti-climactic. The disarming charm? All that and he used the disarming charm. The way JKR did the Hallows bit was interesting, and about the only good thing about the final book. And that all was well crap? Made me want to burn the book.
My thoughts on Naruto: I quit watching the Anime entirely once it got into the Chunin exam arc. I was outraged with Kakashi's treatment of Naruto and Sakura (even though I disliked her). Disliked how much they focused on Sasuke considering the show was called Naruto. I've read some of the manga, not all but some. Honestly, a person can learn more from the internet than watching every episode of the show.
