Philosophical Background
I'm a follower of Jesus Christ, so I love Truth and Life (John 14:6), and I love to compare stories to the Story of God and His interaction with us. I look for parallels between the stories I read (or watch, in the case of movies) and the Story. For more discussion about this, I recommend the book Epic by John Eldredge. It's a short little book, but it's packed with truth.

Philosophy on Fan Fiction Writing
The best stories are the ones where good is always victorious in the end, and evil is seen to be evil and defeated. I enjoy symbolism as a rich illustration of the conflict (such as light vs. dark). Regarding character development, I support the preservation camp (as opposed to the progressive camp), meaning that my serious fan fiction will seek to preserve and uphold the canon traditions that were responsible for drawing so many fans in the first place. Additionally, main characters should be multi-faceted (as opposed to stereotypes such as "the tough guy", "the wimpy nerd", "the spoiled princess", etc.) to the extent allowed by canon. I prefer romance and humor in moderation, not in excess. I am pro-family-friendliness—I dislike curse/swear/vulgar words, and I strongly dislike sexual elements; I will most likely not read rated-M fan fiction. Lastly, but by no means of least importance, the best writers are those who respect language and use it to the very best of their ability, continually guarding against errors (particularly in spelling and punctuation). Fewer errors mean more pleasurable reading, which in turn means more reviews.

Favorite 'Ships (Pairings)
I much prefer to write platonic (non-romantic) relationships ('ships) than romantic ones, primarily because I can empathize much easier with platonic 'ships, and because they're sadly underrated. (Yes, relationships CAN be passionately platonic!) While I recognize that some 'ships on the platonic list are romantic, I include them in the platonic group, because each 'ship is non-romantic at some point, and that is the stage in which I often prefer to write them. Platonic 'ships can include siblings, friends, enemies, parents/children, inter-species... pretty much anything, which is one of the things I like about them so much!

Fan Fiction In Progress
Updated on February 9, 2008

Hylian Peacetime has been on a long hiatus since fall semester started, but I haven't forgotten about it, and I am planning to continue. The next chapter will have a recap of the previous chapters, so my readers won't feel like they must re-read them.

A Phantom of the Opera songfic is in the works; it will be Raoul-centered and angsty. However, since using song lyrics is against FanFiction.net terms, I may just post this in my LiveJournal.
