Author has written 5 stories for Evangelion. Hello I'm a 18 year old guy living in Illinois. I read fanfiction every so often, and usually drop reviews after I read it. I'm probably a self-styled revolutionary when it comes to fanfiction, I'll incorporate ideas from anywhere and everywhere, but if something influences the story greatly, I'll give wherever the idea came from some credit. Some of my ideas come from way down in my subconscious though, I'm probably a Jungian psychologist's dream. When I read fanfiction, the only thing I'm not really a fan of is crossovers. When the crossover is mild, maybe incorporating a character or situation into the story, I really don't mind, but I really don't like large casts of crossed over characters and objects. I really like the epics of fanfiction, with long chapters and the like, even though I'm guilty of short chapters myself. I haven't really written anything outside of Evangelion, except maybe for a few short stories of my own creation. For inspiration, I usually read horror, suspense, and the like, and wait for ideas to pop into my head. I keep a list of plot bunnies around, so even if I don't like the idea immediately, I'll write it down for future reference. Its probably nothing different from what other authors do, but since I'm trying to get you guys a decent look into my writing characteristics, but I'll go ahead and include it. I'm usually a procrastinator when it comes to writing, an sometimes ideas come and go. Most of my stories are pretty much stream of conscious, there are no point As or Bs, I'll get an idea, start writing, and see where it takes me. There's a couple stories I've dropped because I've either written myself into a hole or completely lost track of the idea. I keep them around in case the idea comes back to me or whatever, but it doesn't happen often. Influences: I think my single largest influence is H.P Lovecraft, and for those of you who have heard about him, but still don't know who he is, he was a pulp magazine horror/sci-fi writer in the 1920's and 30's. One of his strengths in writing is an ability to take you to the places he describes. Sometimes the effect is simply a paragraph of adjectives, but when its done right, you see the visions he saw when he wrote. One of my reasons for writing fanfiction is that it gives me a chance to get better at writing this style, although I really feel I can't come close to matching the work that Lovecraft has written. Music: Usually when I'm writing, it depends on whatever scene I'm writing, for some of the mind trip scenes I'll listen to the Beatles, Pink Floyd, or a couple of Led Zeppelin songs, but when its slice of life or action, I'll just listen to other forms of rock. When I'm not writing, I enjoy listening to progressive rock, such as early Rush and Jethro Tull, or maybe, some 60's Brit Pop. I don't listen to much made after 1990, which is odd, considering everything I like is older than me...must be that complex my shrink talked about. Anime: I don't usually watch a ton of anime, I can't really afford it, and don't have a connection fast enough to make watching it online worth my time. My friend occasionally lends me some, so that's about it. I've seen Eva all the way through a couple of times, and I've managed to see a few others as well, like both seasons of Higurashi no naku koro ni, and a few episodes of Lucky Star and Gurren-Lagann (yes, the shows aren't mutually exclusive). Dub wise, I really don't mind English dubs unless they completely suck. TV: I don't really watch a lot of it anymore, maybe Ghost Hunters or Mythbusters every once and a while. Hobbies: I collect fossils and play guitar. I'm also trying to pick up C++ programming and Japanese and some German. I tend to gain or lose interest in things quickly, so this list will probably be entirely different by the end of the year. That's it for now, but I'll be adding stuff here in the future. | |||||||||
