"If people only wrote what they knew we'd have no Lord of the Rings, or A Midsummer Night's Dream, or Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy." - H. M. Murdock, in Cabin Fever by junkfoodmonkey2004
Under the influence of such authors as Alan Moore (The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), Kim Newman (Anno Dracula), and Philip José Farmer (The Wold Newton universe), as well as their numerous online commentators (This means you, Mr. Nevins!), I have come to enjoy devising stories in which diverse fictional characters can meet. I hope to eventually make them all interlock through the use of shared characters, but for now they include:
The One That Got Away: The Boondock Saints, Highlander, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Prequel to "Head Count", plus some "behind-the-scenes" Captain Jack action.
Head Count: The Dresden Files, Highlander, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Also here I played around with using "background" characters that could be linked to even more fictions.
Passing the Torch: Dirk Pitt and Indiana Jones. An interesting side note here is that since at one point Clive Cussler had Pitt meet James Bond (Night Probe!), 007 is part of this universe, too.
The Mirror Universe Cycle: Technically, the Star Trek Mirror Universe is a completely seperate entity from . . . well, everything, really. However, it must have a history of it's own before even Archer's time, and who's to say that it can't include some of the other characters that populate our imaginations? Mirror Shards is an on-and-off project exploring this idea, and I had so much fun with the Mirror- A-Team, I'm thinking about doing a longer story starring them, probably about their version of the Hanoi Bank Incident and the aftermath.
