Author has written 2 stories for Harry Potter. Hello! My name is Amanda and I'm from Kansas City but live in Ireland with my hubby and my ever expanding baby bump. I've been lurking on fanfiction websites since I was 16 (currently I'm 22) and decided that it would be prudent to set up an account...so here I am. I love Fanfics...but they have to be well written and to be honest I rarely read anything that isn't Draco/Harry Slash from the Harry Potter series. I just feel they are the best pairing ever and I refuse to see them with anyone else lol. (Though I do go in for some heavy Sirius/Remus action now and them...they are a pair of hot pups after all ) I am open to story lines but there are things that I simply can't get into: 1. Mpreg. I feel this completely defeats the purpose of a Male/Male relationship...yes it starts off well and then one of them gets pregnant and becomes girly and emotional and the whole essence of the characters is lost! I just cannot get into it. And yes...I have tried. 2. Stories with characters SO OOC they don't even relate to the book any more. It shouldn't be called a Drarry if they aren't ANYTHING like Draco and Harry. 3. Plotlines that COMPLETELY disregard the wonderful JK Rowlings work in its entirety. It's like saying her writing was horrible so the writer of the fanfic fixed it. I can understand leaving off the epilogue of HPDH just because no one who loves Drarry wants to see Harry and Ginny end up together...but I like a bit of believability in the story line. 4. Any fic where I can't get more than a paragraph without spelling, grammar, and tense errors. I just don't have the patience. 5. First person narratives (unless they are very well written). I think sometimes authors go for first person and end up writing more about themselves rather than being able to stay true to the character they originally set out to portray. I've read far too many Harry Potter fanfictions in which Harry sound remarkably like fifteen year old school girls rather than the actual character he should be. First person can be very dangerous and must be approached with caution. I also feel that in most cases first person narrative restricts things too much. But that's just me. (The only people, so far, who have made me disregard this standard are Digitallace and DreamingInColour) At the moment my favorite writers on fanfic.net are Digitallace, DreamingInColour, CherylDyson, maxfaith, and Dracosoftie to name a few. Also recently I broke down and got a twitter account so if you feel like following me there feel free. Just search for arineat (and my tweets are protected so please let me know you are following me from FF.net otherwise I mightn't add you). Anyways that's about all! Bye P.S. for a really humorous PWP fic that more than tickled my fancy click here. | |||||||
