August 21, 2009: Okay, so I've been working on this AU fic... It's a "What would HP be like if Harry had been born a girl?". I know, I know! But the idea wouldn't leave me alone... and I've written up to book five... The whole thing has reached the 80k mark, and I've a feeling that it will double in size before I'm finished. It's not ready to be posted, but I'm going to put the links to the first draft years up here. I'd appreciate it if anyone who reads these would leave a comment at my LJ or sent me a message through FFnet - even if you just want to mock me for writing Girl!Harry. I know how stupid it is (though I've become rather fond of my Rose Alice Potter...). If you need to know more before you devote yourself, Years One-Four is around 40k words. This story will end with Draco/Rose, but they won't be getting together until sometime in book 7 (I don't plan for them to be together in 6th year, but who knows?). In the meantime, Rose dates George Weasley and Cedric Diggory. The only person I plan to kill off in these stories is Dumbledore - yes, Cedric and Sirius live! Year One isn't much different from canon, but things start to change in Year Two. Hermione and Ginny are Rose's best friends, the Weasley twins adore her, Sirius is over-protective, and Rose grew up with Aunt Petunia treating her like a Barbie doll. Year Five is 42k all on its own. (!) It's tentatively titled "Girl in the War", but there's already a Girl!Harry fic with this title, and I adore that story, so I feel bad about title yoinking...
