Author has written 3 stories for Bible, Resident Evil, and Doctor Who. Well hi, the name's Megan and I've been on this site for a while just not as a member. I must say when I was first introduced to this site I was surprised by all the wonderful writers and their stories, I've read quite a few. Whew! I went through and looked at how many stories I've got in my favs/alerts and what a haul I've gone through Doctor Who, House, and searched through loads of crossovers with the search engine I gotta say I'm satisfied by what I've found and all the great writers out there they've really helped by giving me a laugh for the day and adventures to stimulate my own creativity which I know doesn't seem like much. I've finally gotten through the entire Star Wars section all 650 pages and there are some good stories in there. Ya know some stories I have no idea what the authors were thinking when they wrote that stuff and some of the reviewers are extremely gullible it's quite sad. Some people have very cool ideas concerning a plot but their writing skills are much to be desired if they took themselves further than what they've been doing and improved themselves it wouldn't be a problem. All I can say for them is keep trying but learn along the way and don't be afraid or too proud to take advice when you need it. One of my favorite past times on this site is to scroll through whatever section I'm in to find interesting stories. At the moment I'm looking through the movies section in Star Wars cuz I've rediscovered my Boba Fett crave. This could take me some time seeing as there are over six hundred pages with stories in this section I'm up to two hundred so far. I know the C2 section has a Boba Fett collection of stories but despite that I have found a few that weren't in there so I'm looking for whatever else they might have missed. Other sections I've scrolled through: Resident Evil, Hogan's Heroes, Sherlock Holmes, Movie crossovers, half of Crossovers, Video Game Crossovers, Pirate's of the Caribbean, Metriod Prime, Transformers, Legend of Dragoon, and Legend of Zelda. I have WAY TOO MUCH time on my hands. I notice in just about every section I've been in there's always stories about the author/s including themselves in a fic or making their character into the sister, daughter, son, or distant relation of one of the characters which is disturbing. I don't have anything against it but sometimes it gets downright ridiculous. Oh I'd love to be in anyone of the fiction worlds I love I won't deny but I'd rather be my own character instead of related to a canon character. There's also a serious case of randomness running around which while funny quickly serve to make me feel embarressed to read them. What is it with fangirls and wanting to fall in love with their favorite characters? True I have my own favorite character/s I love but it's more of having passion for them than actually wanting to fall in love. Instead of falling in love I'd rather have an impact on their life in a totally different way give them a major culture shock that's always fun. Introduce them to ideas they never thought of is even better and using logic against them is probably the best but do it while having fun at the same time. I seem to have gone on a rant here. Likes: I have so many of them and I'm always moving on to various subjects. I couldn't tell you what my favorite songs, stories, movies, etc. are cause like I said I'm always moving so you'll never know what I'm into. At the moment though I've found myself attracted to the Pirates of the Caribbean section on this site (who wouldn't.) I couldn't even tell you who my favorite actor is cuz' let's face it people it's not really the actor we like but the characters they play the actor you only like about a quarter of the actual character. I will say that Jack Sparrow is adorable in that piratey kind of way. blushes Dislikes: Stories with overused plots they get boring after a while (I'd expect people to be more creative and coming up with their own ideas not using the same stuff over and over.) Stories with SLASH those are disturbing to me and sometimes people don't mention that their story is slash so I wind up stumbling into one by accident. Stories that are not worth reading (no offense to the authors.) Democrats (LOL!) Swearing, period. People who don't finish their stories (I hope to finish the stuff I write it's something I want to do, so don't try and contradict me I just can't find all the motivation needed to write is all.) Personality: I'm a tomboy so in other words I'm a bit of a pirate myself, I have no fashion style cuz for me when I see other girls dressed up in those skimpy outfits, or low cut jeans, with makeup on, for me that's saying that they have an ego and nasty attitude and no not in the girls kick butt kind of way. Although I might give encouragement to others I have none for myself so I have virtually no faith in myself to complete something I start though a lot of ideas strike my fancy at times. Like the typical boastful American that all of us probably are (not really) if I say something about doing something for the rest of the country that's usually all talk. I'm pretty shy of others and don't like to go out much (I blame it on school and the jerks who live there, bad experiance. Not at all pretty.) I am not one of those people who'll judge by first appearances but I have a hard time relating to people (my first taste of the world's reality like I said was not pleasant.) On the bright side I'm a very open minded person and a Christian (not all Christians are narrow minded) I don't have much faith and have difficulties of my own when it comes to God but I get along fine when it comes to being creative (when your life is as boring as mine is creativeness is a luxury.) When I write to people I sound formal and probably like some kind of suck up which is funny cause when I'm actually talking I make no sense at all and people usually don't understand the point I'm trying to make, oh well the heck with it. Talents: I can draw some, though at the moment I'm a bit rusty. I've liked playing the piano since I was real small and have a real talent at playing by ear(seriously I can listen to a song I like and play it on the piano almost instantly (not the whole song of course.)) My writing should be good enough for this site though not for a real novel I have trouble with commas mostly but I did take a class in grammer so I should be fine if not please tell me. Word of advice to other authors: You shouldn't stop writing your story even when new stuff gets in the way a real author wouldn't stop writing their story until it was complete even if it's a pain in the butt to write. If you have to use excuses to keep writing a story then use them, examples: your story can be a whole different adventure from a different dimension or timeline it doesn't have to be relavant to the real story of the characters. Since all these stories are works of fiction you could say your story is a 'what if' something that might of happened or could have all you have to do to make it real is write it. If you do get stumped because of new developments with the real story then go back and modify your story to fit the facts and then stick to your origional idea. It's really not that hard if you set your mind to it (I wish I took my own advice LOL.) You want to know something that's funny? You all know what they say about rabies, it's contagious. Every day I find myself more and more becoming a rabid fangirl . . . . ahhhhhhhhh! Favorite quote/s: Random quotes. The big bang theory: God said bang and it happened. Hogan's Heroes quotes. Col. Hogan trying to persuade Shultz to help resue some of his men in The Great Impersonation. Hogan: They could send you to the Russian front. Kinch: Or shoot you. Hogan: Or both. Shultz: That's impossible you can't shoot someone AND send them to the Russian front, pauses No they could do it. Lord of the Rings. Frodo: I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had ever happened. Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. (Best piece of advice I've ever heard from a movie, heh.) | |||||||||||
