I honestly don't believe my story had any of those, and furthermore, unlike the many HP characters read the HP books I actually had the personal authorization of the Midnight Guardian's author, but what can I do?

SPOILER ALERT FOR DEATHLY HALLOWS

CHALLENGE: I had a twisted idea for a plot but couldn’t come up with a story so I decided to pose a challenge to whoever is interested. What I want is to use that very well known plot where James or Lily come back to life but with Lupin. You can choose how he comes back. If they used a freezing charm instead of a killing curse or whatever you come up with. He can come back with Tonks or alone (though I think bringing her back is kinder). But Lupin must come back.

Important points that the story must have:

1-This story has to be set 12 to 16 years after the final battle (before Teddy will be too young and later too old).

2-Harry has to have raised Teddy. He can have a deal with Andromeda for his last year at Hogwarts but after that it’s daddy Harry.

3- A little Auness must happen because Harry and Lupin have to have had a closer relation than in Canon. Lupin must have stepped up and become a father figure to Harry. (Would be nice a few missing or in this case inexistent scenes.)

3-The whole point here is to explore three dramas: Teddy having a father he loves and suddenly having his biological father of whom he has always heard and been proud show up. Harry suddenly getting back his surrogate father but at the same time fearing losing his adoptive son. Lupin coming back to both his “sons” and finding that one is all grown up and a father and the other already has a father (Is he dad or granddad?).

You can follow the epilogue and have Harry married with kids or make up what you want. You’ll have to either go around Lupin being in the Forest scene or say he wasn’t there. You can have Lupin’s age freezed or have him ages as you want. Many don’t age James and I think that would be interesting seeing as Harry and Lupin would be close in age. Suddenly your “son” is almost as old as you.

"Snupin Family Challenge".

As is usual for me my mind wondered around and in wondering around I started thinking. Imagine a Severitus where Harry had been raised by Remus. I would love to read how that would go, after all most Severitus have Harry and Severus overcomeing their hatred because of Harry's lack of a father and his craving for one. But what if he did have a father all along?

My Challenge is the following: A story where Severus is Harry's biological father with the following rules:

1- Remus has to have raised Harry from an early age, preferably still a toddler. He may have gone to stay with the Dursleys and Remus have gotten him soon, he might have gone straight to Remus but the important part is the Dursleys damage can not have been deep.

2- Harry has to call Remus dad (that's a big part of the drama the fact that Severus has to overcome two father's, the memory of James and the presence of Remus)

3- Do whatever you want regarding Sirius, he can be free from the start or in Azkaban. As long as you find a way for Remus and not Sirius to have custody of Harry Sirius can be as much a part of Harry's life as you want.

4- Now, why am I so insistent on Remus being the parent? Because of my little catch; Severus is and has always been in love with Remus. His hatred of Sirius and James has to steam from jealousy of Remus. His bitterness towards Harry too. The other catch is, the feeling is returned. Why haven't they ever acted on those feelings? I am sure you can come up with some good reason, after all, want two more messed up people than Remus and Severus?

5- How Severus comes to be Harry's father? Again your choice. But if you go for the "Lily might have been taken by Death Eaters and given to Severus to who "against his will" had to rape her or else she would be at the mercy of someone else" you have to make him do this as a last resort and he must feel guilty because he MUST be a good guy (snarky but good).

6- When Harry and he find out: whenever you want as long as they had a hate-hate relationship before. You can have that happening during Hogwarts, before Hogwarts even after Hogwarts. (For before you might want to make Remus a teacher so Harry and Severus would have interacted)

7- James MUST have been a good father and loved Harry regardless. The same goes for Remus. I want Severus competing with good father figures. If you want Harry to have been a male pregnancy the same allies to Lily, she must have been a good mother and loved Harry.

8- Harry MUST be protective of his adoptive father (using Severus snide remarks about Remus for Harry hating him is a good idea)

9- The only slash couple that is a must is Remus/Severus. You can do whatever you want with the other characters including Harry. You can follow canon or change canon completely. Personally I like a balance.

10- I DO NOT want Harry changing his first and middle name because he finds out he is Snape's son. I personally think that is like changing Harry's personality and that won't happen just because he found out who his real father is. He is still Harry. If you want you may change the last name. I personally like the idea of hyphenating to honor both fathers. (If you want him to have the last name Lupin you may also)

No disparagement challenge

My challenge is simple, or maybe not considering the lack of stories with these characteristics.

My challenge is to write a Severitus, Sevitus or Snape mentor/guardian story WITHOUT disparaging James and Sirius to do so and without Draco being a poor misunderstood abused child who needs adoption too. (Sorry, I want Harry to be the center of the story).

Where Harry isn’t turned against James, who died trying to save him. Where James is a good father and husband. Where Severus’ actions towards Harry and society (he becoming a Death Eater) are not excused by James and Sirius being horrible bullies (from canon we hear that Severus gave as good as he got and on DH we see that Severus was the first to insult not James and Sirius). Where Sirius isn’t portrayed as a reckless idiot who doesn’t give a damn for Harry (the man lived on rats for Harry!!! He told Harry to be careful on GoF. He obviously cares for him and can be responsible.)

Harry isn’t the one who has to apologize to Snape. Snape is the adult who bullied a child for being a Potter not the other way around.

I want to see a story where Severus becomes a better man through his relationship with Harry by admitting his faults and responsibility for his actions and atoning for them and where after some growth (not right at the beginning because then he’s be OOC), he can admit that James and Sirius actually grew up and were good people.

I also don’t want to see Draco having a worse life than Harry. There is nothing in canon to support that. Quite the opposite, Draco seemed to be a pampered little boy with very loving parents. If you want to have Draco becoming better and befriending Harry that is fine by me. But Harry is the one with a crappy life who gets a parent, not Draco.

I’ve always wanted to read a story like that. There are so many Severitus, Sevitus and Snape mentor/guardian with good proposals, with the promise to be so interesting but 99.9 percent of them fall on the same cliché: making Severus look good by making James and Sirius look bad and making Harry look like a whiner for complaining about his life at the Dursleys and saying he is the one at fault with Snape not the other way around. I’ve braved through some of them, but I mostly lose interest because of this. I want a Severitus, Sevitus or Snape mentor/guardian that won’t make me want to skim over most of the story.

The main plot, how they become a family, how Severus might have been Harry’s biological father without them knowing. That is up to you, as long as you don’t make it sound as if James forced Lily into marriage and is abusive. They may even not be really married, the marriage may be a cover up. But bottom line is James and Sirius have to be GOOD people.

If you have Sirius alive and them having to work together for their relationship for Harry, that’s extra points. That gives so much room for the imagination. Sirius has to be good but he doesn’t have to be perfect. He can be jealous. Imagine how much conflict and angst you can get out of the insecurities of both Severus and Sirius until they can finally work together for Harry (if you choose this that has to happen). Just remember not to make Sirius look childish. It’s easy to fall into that, from what I’ve seen.

I hope someone can come up with a great story with those characteristics. I’m sure they can, Severus Snape is such a rich character and there are so many possibilities. Have fun playing with them people!
