Author has written 1 story for Castle in the Sky.

I'm 5'10", Chinese male born in Canada. I just turned 21, but if you know me in person, you know that I don't look, sound, or act a day older than 17. And I'm a senior year at Cornell University majoring in Linguistics (yes, I'm a nerd).

Interests & Hobbies: Primarily: Piano, video games, movies, movie soundtracks, most music, anime, and foreign languages and cultures. I've seen more than ten Ghibli films, and I absolutely love everything Miyazaki's ever done (although Howl's Moving Castle was a little perplexing), though Princess Mononoke and Laputa: Castle in the Sky are my absolute favorites. I love all types of dance simulation games: DDR, In the Groove, and Pump it Up (my user name comes from a Pump it Up song). I've been playing these games for almost four years now (you may know me as the_peacemaker from PumpHaven). I've been playing piano since I was 5, and recently performed Liszt's concert etude, "Un Sospiro". Let's see...I also love to play LaserQuest wherever I can find it.

Favorite Movies: That's a really long list. The Matrix (only the first one), Princess Mononoke, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, City of God, Batttle Royale, The Pianist, American Beauty, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Requiem for a Dream, October Sky, Frequency, Whisper of the Heart, Pan's Labyrinth, The Cat Returns, Spellbound (the documentary on the spelling bee), Run Lola Run, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Millennium Actress, 12 Monkeys, Ghost World, The Sixth Sense, 12 Angry Men, Touching the Void, The Mighty, Billy Elliot, Perfect Blue, Identity, Catch Me If You Can, Shrek, Spirited Away, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Se7en, Smoke Signals, Heat, Mean Creek, The Piano (nothing to do with The Pianist), Toy Story, 21 Grams, Million Dollar Baby, Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, One Hour Photo...the list goes on and on and on. Those weren't in any particular order, except that the first 10 or so are the ones that I will love forever because they're just so precious to me. I don't follow many anime shows, although I do watch "Galaxy Angel" when I want something mindless and funny but not insulting. Plus those five girls are not only beautiful, but their personalities are so radiant without being downright annoying.

Favorite Music: I listen to video game music all the time, especially from DDR, In The Groove, and Pump It Up. My absolute favorite song from any video game is Fleadh Uncut from In the Groove 2, a Riverdance techno song. Think "Reel Around the Sun" with a modern drum beat. Yeah, anyway...I love all kinds of Celtic music (especially if it sounds like Riverdance). I also love classical music (anything other than opera), New Age music (Enya, Enigma, Loreena McKennitt, etc.), electronica (Moby, Orbital, etc.), trip-hop (Massive Attack especially), Jars of Clay (an AWESOME band), alternative rock (Radiohead's pretty cool), gothic metal (Evanescence isn't bad, though Nightwish is just GREAT), Weird Al, tons of movie soundtracks (Princess Mononoke and Requiem for a Dream are the BEST MOVIE SOUNDTRACKS OF ALL TIME)...basically anything that isn't crappy mainstream pop.

Favorite Games: Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals is the greatest game of all time. Period. I cannot play through it, read the transcript, listen to the soundtrack, or even talk or write about it without a huge lump in my throat. With a storyline filled of tremendous love and emotion, it is a game that swept me away for four years of my life, and the ending is so incredibly beautiful that I've become more attached to it than any movie I've ever seen. It's completely overlooked, too, and that's a darn shame. Other favorites include Super Mario RPG, Final Fantasy VII, all dance games, all Donkey Kong Country games, all Harvest Moon games, Guitar Hero II (I'm one of the top 1000 at Scorehero), Tales of Symphonia, Super Smash Brothers Melee, Wario Ware, Lost in Blue, You Don't Know Jack, Worms World Party, and all the Mario games I used to play as a little kid. (Oh, and by the way, I never got to play Chrono Trigger or even see it in action except once, for about three hours. But it totally blew me away, and I wish I could play it for real someday...)

Favorite fanfiction categories:

Anime: anything by Miyazaki. Absolutely. He's a master director and he always knows just how to make the cutest couples, whether their relationship suggests hope for the future (Chihiro/Haku, Ashitaka/San) or clearly shows that they're each other's perfect angels (Pazu/Sheeta FOR LIFE!). With Galaxy Angel being the other anime that I actually watch, that's another category that I've found myself browsing through, in hopes that I'll find a story that really focuses on bringing out the vibrant personalities of those five adorable Angels. I will admit that I really don't see enough Castle in the Sky, Galaxy Angel, or Whisper of the Heart fanfics...although I guess I'm not one to judge since I don't know if I can find the time to write a story in any of those categories.

Games: The only game categories I really look through and eagerly aspire new entries in are Harvest Moon and Lufia II. Everywhere else I'll just look around and maybe read a good one or two. Even though I never really got into the Zelda games, that category seems to be the haven for some of the best works of fanfiction on the site, possibly on the whole internet.

I don't really have much in the way of favorite pairings (just favorite characters), although I will say right now that I don't find myself interested in yaoi.

Current projects:

Open Your Heart - A slightly AU Laputa fic. Pazu's life back in the Ravine isn't quite right after he and Sheeta saved Laputa. Haunted by his own dreams, he is troubled, confused, and scared like never before...

Ugh. I'm in a bad state of writer's block right now with this one. There are lots of future scenes I really want to get to but I'm just not sure how to get to them at the moment. I'm not finding this piece to be very easy to write. The words simply do not want to flow. If I ever find the time to write anything else, chances are it'll probably be lighter and shorter...but that's because it probably won't have as much of a moody element as this fic I'm currently writing.

Yeah, I'm not a very prolific writer. I do, however, often write detailed reviews, and chances are you've seen one from me, I was just using an odd pseudonym of some sort. Thanks for taking the time to read this, I'm sorry it's long, I'm not that interesting a person.
