| Bob the Robot |
Author has written 4 stories for Avatar: Last Airbender, and Heroes. "There is always a different side to a story. what you thought. what you know. and then there's me: looking for the truth" - justice bob the robot/noun/: a really awesome mechanical organism what is the allure of a well written story? some may wonder if there is an allure at all. in recent times, reading has been at an all time low. and the question must be asked: why? many will say that television is the reason. others will reply that the new generation of young adults don't appreciate what is written any longer. still others may say that the growing evolution of today's technology makes reading traditional books inconsequential and outdated. all of those reasons may be correct. or none at all. it all depends on persepective it is intriguing how a story changes with perspective. if someone hears an account from three different people about the same event, the main points will be similar but its the minute details that separate one from the other. there are never two identical stories between two different people because there are too many intricacies in themselves that make them different. the emotions. the thought process. the personality of the character. some of the most interesting stories are the ones with well defined characters. characters that the readers can identify with. can empathize with. can love. can hate. it is the character that drives the story. it is the character that makes us want to read further. and the best characters are the ones that personify human nature. ones that are good with a hint of bad in them. the ones that are bad with a hint of honor in them. the honorable with a treacherous heart. the conflict and dichotomy of life. the characters that are shaped by one thing: choice. A choice has a consequence. a consequence can be good or bad. it is the choices that we make in life that drive us in any given direction. these decisions make us who we are and define who we can be. a person can go through his entire life wanting to be something, wishing to do something, but in the end it is his choice that decides whether or not he will be or do what he wanted. that is what life is about: making choices and learning from the consequences. i guess that's what's so alluring about life. so what is the allure of a well written story? that may be a question that will never truly be with any universal answer, but i can tell you what allures me to any well written story: perspective. character. and choices. i hope you enjoy my contributions to fan fiction status of stories: 1.
