RENT is my hope, my love, my fear, my passion, my obsession, my joy, my sorrow, my LIFE. RENT is love. I'm not just saying that. From the moment the first chords of Seasons chimed over the theatre speakers, I fell in love. I did. They've changed my life. RENT is about being young, being in love, being afraid and being brave, loving someone enough to keep them close to you, but loving them enough to let them go when it's their time. RENT is about hope, life, death, pain, misery, addiction. RENT is about life. Your life. Not only do you know these people, you are these people. Every one of them. If you can't relate with Mark you relate with Roger, or if you can't relate with Mimi you relate to Angel. There's more of you in all of these people than you realize there is. It's not about AIDS and Drag Queens and the Homeless, it's about your life. You experience love and hurt and fear just like these people do. Gay marriage:
1) Being gay is not natural. People always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, liposuction and air conditioning.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Briteny Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans... --

Young Bohemians: AU the bohos' sophomore year of high school! Canon pairings, mostly AngelCollins cuz I'm a sucker for them. Chapter 11 is up!

Testing their Strength: Collins gets sent South for a two week teaching conference, and he’s allowed to bring Angel along with him. There’s only one problem… their destination is a town of homophobes in Alabama. How will they deal? Can they survive the two weeks? Chapter 5 has been posted! (not including prologue!)

Hating Dear Old Mum and Dad: When their parents decide to come and ‘help their children get back on track’, the bohos are reminded why they moved to New York in the first place. And it only gets worse from there. Slightly AU, Angel lives! Canon couples! Chapter 1 is up, chapter 2 is in-progress!

Mkay, so, I put up a new chapter of Young Bohemians a little while ago, which again shows off the awesomeness of Mr. Vinsely. However, that is not the real reason for this update. It is to announce:

This weekend is a three-day, NO HOMEWORK weekend! Which means, of course, that I can devote much of my time to writing! WOOHOO! Expect quite a few updates come Friday night!

Should totally be in bed right now, as usual. Anyways, I put up a new songfic today, a MimiRoger if you're interested. Also, TWO, count em, TWO chapters of Testing their Strength have been uploaded tonight, with much Alex bashing for my onee-chan Sofri. Hope you liked em, even though I was mean to Angel... it hurt...

Hey everybody! The next chapter of Young Bohemians is up for viewing! I got three chapters done this weekend, hooray! I know I still need to update Testing their Strength, but I'm having a strange lack of inspiration for that one. I'll get working on it ASAP, promise!
