I find it pointless since all you're telling the author who's trying to create a good fanfic that their work sucks. Constructive criticism is ok, but not flaming someone and just saying for example: you suck. Also, most of the flamers I've seen don't have enough backbone to give a signed review, or even an e-mail address. If you truly believe something isn't what you think it should be, at least give a signed review or e-mail so the author can ask why. By saying their works sucks, you're also insulting the author who's attempting to make a great fanfiction for people to enjoy. Nothing is perfect, so keep that in mind flamers. And another thing, if you just say you don't like the fic, stop reading it. It's that simple and stop wasting the author's time by saying "I don't like it." Really. It's uncalled for and it's stupid. If you don't like something, DON'T READ IT. It's that simple. Just my feelings on flamers and why I will never flame. If I feel I don't like the fic, I stop reading it. If I feel the author needs a little bit of criticism, I give it to them. But I won't flame. So there. Edit: I have officially changed my mind. My friend told me to Google "worst fanfic ever." What came up was exactly what I wanted...err...maybe the better thing to say was that it was exactly what I didn't want. What I read was so horrifying and ingrammatically correct, I wanted to gouge out my eyes with a rusty spork. It was that terrible. The fanfic was called "My Immortal." I imagine some of you may have heard about it, infamous for being the worst story ever written. Now, I know that some of my stories are terrible, but put mine next to hers and my stories look like I'm friggin' Shakespeare. It's that horrifying. That will be the first and only flame I will ever write, because after you check out the reviews, (Reading the actual story is highly unadvised), you'll realize exactly what I mean. I had a blast reading those. They were pretty funny. Just trying to read her story, though, I thought I felt my brain leak out of my ears...So many of my brain cells died it's not even funny. The part I find hysterical is how it's so easy for a person to criticize another person's work and say it's bad, than it is to tell someone that their story is good. Now isn't that interesting? The fanfic My Immortal probably has the most reviews in fanfiction history at the number of 20k while mine, not even close to being as terrible Tara's, has a measly little 20-24 reviews(Not that I'm complaining, I love every one of my reviews whether it be a little or a lot). Why is that, do you think? Is it because it's just simply bad? Or is it because people feel better about themselves when they can insult someone who so obviously has the intellect of a slug? Just a little something to think about. I just found it ironic how people get more attention when they've written something bad rather than writing something good.
