I WILL NOT BEG, CAJOLE, OR THREATEN FOR REVIEWS

Personally, I don't understand authors who withhold chapters for reviews or only post after a certain quota. This is their requirements, what makes them motivated to write, so if it works for them, all the better. Myself, no. I will not do that. I write because I want to write, at my own pace, and I'm actually pretty selfish about the stories I end up with. Of all the fanfiction I've written, probably only a forth has ever seen the internet, and half of that ever made it to this page, my journal, etc. The other missing shares are probably still saved in the inbox of my friends' email. Reviews are nice, I will be honored by whatever creative criticism can be shared, but they aren't my lifeblood.

I WILL NOT REMOVE MY WORK FROM FAVORITE LISTINGS IN PROFILES OR COMMUNITIES

I'm a rather casual person, most of the time. If you want to share a story of mine, either use the link that my story already has or email me to let me know what's going on. I do search the web on occasion to see where my stuff has ended up, with or without my knowledge. This goes back to the previous matter; I'm not the type of author who removes my stuff from your favorite stories because you haven't asked to add it first or haven't left a review. Feel free, it's actually rather flattering, even when the purpose of the share is to laugh at it. Trust me, I've laughed at myself and my own finished works so much that no one can out-criticize me.

I WILL NOT GHOST WRITE

Candidus is the result of the only time I've ever ghost-written anything. When I was dipping my toes into the depthless pool of Harry Potter fandom, my friend Lee and her girlfriend of the time, Sam, managed to get me to write an idea of Sam's after I admitted to be interested in trying my hand in writing some Harry Potter fiction. When I agreed, it really became Sam giving me a detailed outline, set with pairings, situations, etc. Basically, she wrote it short-hand and I had to fill in the rest of it. When I started dolling out the chapters, Sam then told me to post it on my profile on FanFictionNet so to keep the peace I did. As the chapters began to add up, I wanted to stretch my wings a bit with what she had given me. Thus, we began our tug-o-war with Candidus, where she wants things to go a certain way and I want to adjust elements. Sam is a hard-hitting action girl, liking drama and shocks around every corner, while I'm a very character and dialogue focused writer. Then, since Sam betaed all the chapters, she started to change things in the story that she didn't like, and I wouldn't know until I hear about it from fans and reviewers. More fighting erupted. It ended with Lee giving Sam the boot, Sam hating me and practically stalking Lee, and Candidus on hiatus. I do want to finish this story, call it my Saotome Syndrome (I must conquer every challenge I face) but whenever I look at what I have to edit, how I want the storyline to now evolve, and what's left over of her notes and, sadly, what the readers expect now because of this feud, I get very disponant about it. In truth, Candidus will come back, but very different and practically unrecognizable. It won't be following the books word for word anymore, as an example of the changes that will come. Because of Sam and all the madness that starting Candidus caused, I will no longer write for other people or accept challenges that are individually issued to me. If I pick up a storyline, it will be because I'm interested and think I can do it.

I WILL NOT DO COMMISSIONS

One would think this would fall under the ghost write vow, ne? Surprisingly, a number of people have approached me about my artwork. I'll be honest here--I have not seriously drawn anything in about five years. Last year, a dear friend of mine asked me to draw him some pictures and gave me a list of scenarios. I was hesitant because I felt very unfamiliar drawing again and despised everything that came out of my attempts, but I did it for him. For his birthday each year, commissions is all he asks of me. For others, unless I feel inspired without provocation or askance, I might doodle a piece here or there. But I will not draw for others outside of that.

I WILL NOT GIVE MORE OF MYSELF THAN I AM WILLING TO GIVE

I love fanfiction. There isn't a time in the future that I can see myself going without it. When I'm not happy with something in canon, I know I can make it happen in fandom. But I am a writer, a serious writer with hundreds of worlds in my head, each with their own unique cast of characters. That being said, most of my attention and imagination will go to my original pieces first and foremost. That doesn't mean that I will abandon my fanfiction or ideas, but they will always come in second to my novel and short stories. If as readers this does not satisfy you, I'm sorry, but I won't change my stance on this.

OBITUARY FOR THE LATE MR. COMMON SENSE:

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered for having cultivated such valuable lessons as: knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate, teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch, and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer Calpol, sun lotion, or a band-aid to a student, but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband, churches became businesses, and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents Truth and Trust, his wife Discretion, his daughter Responsibility, and his son Reason.

He is survived by his 3 stepbrothers I Know My Rights, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I'm A Victim. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

The US government may take wolves off the endangered species list. that means hunters and anyone can kill trap and skin wolves or kill them for the fun of it.
