Greetings, fellow writers!

Name: Kat Age: 25 Occupation: Writer & Librarian

Follow me on Twitter to receive updates on fanfic posts, my writing blog, and Geek La Femme (as well as other randomness!)

Favorite genre: I am a hard-core fantasy freak. Anything that has to do with magic I will read. Books are essentially life to me; I have an insanely huge collection, which is why I'm not going to even TRY to list them here. However, some of my favorite authors are Mercedes Lackey, Barbara Hambly, R.A. Salvatore, Elizabeth Haydon, J.K. Rowling, C.S. Friedman, Lloyd Alexander, Kevin J. Anderson, Peter David, Sharon Shinn, Simon R. Green, and J.R.R. Tolkien.

Anime Conventions: I've attended Otakon 2007 as Sloth (Fullmetal Alchemist), Pisces (Pet Shop of Horrors), and Saki Hanajima (Fruits Basket), Otakon 2009 as Sarah (Labyrinth), Namida (Inuyasha FC), and Random Ninja (Naruto), Kami-con Season 2 as Maximillion Pegasus (YGO manga version), AnimeNEXT 2010 as Yami no Tutu (YGOTAS), Otakon 2010 as Ishizu Ishtar (Yu-Gi-Oh), NekoCon 2010, reprising as Pegasus, Katsucon 2011, reprising as Yami no Tutu, Otakon 2011 as Jessie of Team Rocket (Pokemon), Katsucon 2012 as Botan (Yu Yu Hakusho) and Dark Willow (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), and Katsucon 2013 as my steampunk character Turquoise Brooke. I will be attending Intervention Con 2013.

Fav Anime: I was introduced into the world of anime with the help of my friends, so yes, I have been corrupted. I am otaku, At least half of my fanfiction will be anime related, so you've been warned. Anime's greatest appeal, to me, is the rich, complex storylines and the in-depth, realistic characters. The anime I am familiar with (from oldest to newest) are:

Miyazaki films (especially Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle) - Last Exile - Gundam Wing - Inuyasha - Fullmetal Alchemist - Naruto - Flame of Recca - Fruits Basket - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Tactics - Spiral - Gunslinger Girl - Wolf's Rain - Full Metal Panic? Fav Manga: I read any manga except shoen-ai, yaoi, or yuri. A very mild case of shoen-ai I am okay with because I can pass it off as close platonic friendship, but anything overt and I am gone. None of my fanfiction will be of the yaoi variety. My collection of manga has expended as my wallet has shrunk. The manga I own simple has the number of the ones I've read, while the ones I have read but do not own have the word "read" listed before the numbers.

Inuyasha (#1-36) - Pet Shop of Horrors (#1-10) - Pet Shop of Horrors: Tokyo (#1-6) - Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles (#1-2) - Gundam Wing (3 "filler" stories) - Fruits Basket (#1-14, fanbook, read #15-20) - D.N.Angel (#1, #7, read #2-11) - The Seikai Trilogy (#1-3) - Death Note (read #1-8) - Fushi Yugi (read #1) - Bleach (read #1-30) - Alichino (#1-3) - Return to Labyrinth (#1-3) - Demon Diary (#1, read #2-7) - Vampire Hunter D (#1-16 novels only) - Marmalade Boy (#1-8) - Blood (#1-3) - Castlevania: Curse of Darkness (#1-2) - Chronicles of the Cursed Sword (#1-3) - MARS (#1-15) - Ghost Hunter (read #1) - Arcana (read #1) - Kyo Kara Maoh (read #1) - Maximum Ride (#1-2) - Chobits (#1-8) - Vampire Knight (#1-8) - Hellsing (#1-10) - Gankutsuou: Count of Monte Cristo (#1) - Emma (read #1-3) - The Reformed - Mugen Spiral (#1-2) - Beast Hunt (#1) - Toxic (#1) - D.Gray-Man (read #1-2) - xxxHolic (read #1-2) - Twelve Kingdoms (#1-4) - Ghost in the Shell: SAC: The Lost Memory - Godchild (#1, #4) - Trinity Blood (#1) - Yu-Gi-Oh! (#1-7) - Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist (#1-24) - Yu-Gi-Oh! R (#1, own #2-4) - Rurouni Kenshin (read #1-6) - Slayers Return - The Queen's Knight (#1) - Tactics (#1-5) - Les Bijoux (#1) - It Takes a Wizard - Happy Hustle High (#1) - Fullmetal Alchemist (read #1-23) - Romeo x Juliet - Gothic Sports (read #1-3) - Magic Knight Rayearth I (read #1-3) & M.K.R. II (read #1-3) - Trinity Blood: Rage Against the Moons (read #1-3) - Library Wars (#1-5) - Alice in the Country of Hearts (#1-6) - The Dreaming (read #1-3) - The Story of Saiunkoku (#1, #3) - Carciphonia (#1) - Darker Than Black - Romeo x Juliet - Stepping On Roses (read #1-2) - Black Bird (read #1-7) - Dengeki Daisy (read #1-10) - Ouran High School Host Club (read #1-3) - YuYu Hakusho (read #1-11)

Fav TV Shows: I watch a lot of British television, but I also like many sci-fi and fantasy American television shows.

Star Trek: The Original Series - Star Trek: The Next Generation - Firefly - Avatar: The Last Airbender - MacGyver - The X-Files - Stargate: SG-1 - Farscape - Xena: Warrior Princess (first 3 seasons) - Tin Man - Pride & Prejudice (BBC 1995) - Bleak House (BBC) - Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Angel - Law & Order: Criminal Intent - Law & Order: Special Victims Unit - Bones - CSI - Legend of the seeker - Moonlight - Merlin - Alice (2009 TV mini-series) - Babylon 5 (main series & movies, Lost Tales, Legend of the Rangers, & Crusade) - Little Dorrit (BBC 2008) - Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Castle - Dollhouse - Sherlock - Green Lantern: The Animated Series - The Inspector Lynley Mysteries - The Last Enemy - Lie To Me - Zen - Sapphire & Steel - Once Upon A Time - Dr. Who (starting with 9th Doc) - Terra Nova

My FanFiction: Most of my fanfics will be for movies (especially anime) with a few for books, but not quite as much. Here are some general characteristics of my fanfiction so maybe you'll have a better idea if this is something you want to read:

1. I tend to make up one unique and original character who interacts with other characters in an already-made universe. That one character also tends to be female; so far I have not created a good male character, probably because I'm a girl myself and I find it easier to relate to a female.

2. I try to make my stories fit into periods of that that won't conflict the the already written history. Sorry, very few alternate endings or what-if scenarios. I don't like messing with cannon storylines, so I do quite a bit of research before starting a fanfic.

3. I am a stickler for accuracy! I reloaded all the chapters of my Inuyasha fanfic because I'd spelled Sango's weapon "harai-kotsu" instead of "hirai-kotsu." That shows you how picky I am...with my own work. I also hate typos and word errors, so if I find any, you can be darned sure I'll go back and fix it.

4. The names of my characters always have meanings. Once a fanfic is done, I will include a "Glossary" at the end with a list of the characters and the meaning of their names. I always like little extra tid-bits like that, so stick around for those.

5. I am an artist (albeit a poor one) who works with old-fashioned mediums like pencil (I believe at least some people remember what "pencils" are...) I have been experimenting with the anime style of drawing, so I will try to draw pictures of my FCs and post them on http://hikari-katana.deviantart.com if you'd like to take a look. (My OCs are on http://starsister12.deviantart.com.)

Ideas: I used to have a list of all the fanfic ideas I had, but it's far too long now (over 43!). I end up getting fanfiction ideas for almost every anime I see, so if you want to know if I am writing a fanfic for a particular universe, just message me. Chances are it's there somewhere, waiting in the wings.

Thank you everyone who has left reviews on my stories! Those reviews are the things that keep me going and inspire me to continue to work on my stories. Thank you so much for all your support and good luck in your own worlds!
