Hey there!

My name is Katie. I'm an English girl (Kent based) I love music from pretty much any genre and can't write without my playlist on. (Music is the source of my power!) I've dropped out of university and I'm taking some time out to think about what to do next in my life!

I love the reviews I get from people. Big thanks and love to the 628 people who have me on their favourite lists and the 427 who put me on author alert! (You would not believe how often I have to update those numbers!). Also, huge luff to the wonderful Theangelcried, my uber-spiffy new beta and friend. Without her, life would be full of mistakes and craziness. Well, it's still crazy, but... oh, you know what I mean.

For some reason people keep asking me for advice. First of all, you're insane for asking me because I have NO idea what I'm doing. I just write what comes into my head and hope it makes sense. Thus far, it appears to have worked! I only write stuff that I would want to read, stories that interest me. Let's face it, if you're not entertaining yourself you probably won't entertain anyone else! Try and be original. Just because fifty thousand other people have written this style of story, doesn't mean YOU have to. In fact, you're more likely to be noticed for writing something different. Also, having a beta is highly recommended. And by a beta, I mean someone who's been writing for a while and knows what they're doing.

Second, here is all I have to say: Never take down a fic because someone doesn't like it. Writing is an incredibly personal thing. You write for yourself, not for other people. Never give up! It's your stroy, not there's. Don't give in to peer pressure. Do what YOU want with your story.

And in the words of my favourite author of all time, J.K.Rowling, here is how you come up with your story:

Read as much as you can. Keep writing and then throwing it away until one day you do something that you don't think belongs in the bin.

Isn't that just spiffy?

Ooh, new piece of advice! Don't be afraid to expand your knowledge. Being a current phantom phreak, I really recommend that you look at other phantoms, not just Gerry Butler (delicious though he is _~). Listen to the stage phantoms. Read Leroux. It is actually a very good book. Watch Lon Chaney. Silents films CAN be scary! And although it's perfectly within your right to dislike Raoul, do let's remind ourself of 'All I Ask Of You', where he swears to protect and guide Christine. He doesn't swear to protect, guide, become a drunkard and be physically abusive.

The Very Best of Badphics: A series of of all the poorly written stories known and loathed by phans in parody form. Bad plot devices and OOC people in abundance. To include Abusive Raoul, High School Phantoms and Kidnapped Kristines. Be warned, this is very much a mood story, which is why the updates are so irregular. It's for when BCD is getting a little deep and dark.

By the way, I do receive all my reviews by email, so please do read and review my other stories as well! Just remember that I was young and inexperienced when I wrote the majority of them. In fact, I'm STILL young and inexperienced. You never, ever stop learning to become a better writer. There's always something to improve on; I have to remind myself of that so I can keep pushing myself. By all means be proud of your work. I always am! But once I wait a few weeks for the euphoria to die down, I can see all the things that could be better. And if you can't see them, get a beta because they WILL see them.

This just a note to let you all know that there will be no updates for a while. I don't know how long, unfortunately. I have dropped out of university for personal reasons and am searching for a full time job whilst I try and decide what to do next.
