Author has written 4 stories for Resident Evil. I’m a twenty something graduate studying (hard) and working (very hard) to become a professional archivist. I love to read thrillers, write romances and bake muffins. Currently my muse dances only for the Resident Evil pairing of Leon S Kennedy and Ada Wong, but who knows what the future may hold. If you too have a soft spot for Mr Kennedy and Miss Wong or even just a passing curiosity then feel free to pop by the forum on this site dedicated to them: The Another Order. The Another Order Fan Fiction Writing Competition 2009 There is a writing competition currently running on this site’s Resident Evil forum ‘The Another Order’ . If you’ve written about Leon and Ada in the past or if you’d like to, then please check out the forum for details. And there are prizes for the winners! Stories Works in Progress: Mr and Mrs Kennedy I’ve always thought that Leon and Ada, like Mr and Mrs Smith, give a whole new meaning to “Until death do us part”. Why did I write this? Because it gave a semi-respectable excuse to watch Mr and Mrs Smith 115 times on DVD. It’s not a great film but it makes me smile, so for that I give it kudos. This tale is basically a monster with Resident Evil’s body and Mr and Mrs Smith’s brain. I take the movie and place Leon and Ada, the franchise’s premier hot couple in my humble opinion, in the lead roles. I thought they matched up pretty well with Brad Pitt’s goofy smile and Angelina Jolie’s saucy pout. Along with them, I’ve tried to cram in as many Resident Evil Alumni into this story as possible. Writing this is a scream and though comedy isn’t my strongest talent I’ve tried to make it fun, bubbly and sexy enough to raise a smile or two. Warning- this story is not to be taken seriously. Oh, and Leon and Ada are much hotter than Brangelina. Finished Stories: Hope Recently I started thinking about romance again, but this time it wasn't concerning my lack thereof, but had more to do with what makes a couple interesting, even a couple who have a strong chance of tragedy. If you know or believe their story will end badly, why do you care? Why do you root for it to be different even though you know it won't be? I'm a bit of a Baz Luhrmann fan and I watched his version of Romeo and Juliet a while ago (the one with Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes). Anyway, just as Romeo takes the poison whilst holding Juliet's 'corpse' all I could think was 'Look down damn it! Her eyes are open. She's allliivve!' I know the entire plot of this play; it's one of the most well known pieces of literature in the world, I studied it at school, I acted out scenes of it in class (as embarrassing and scarring as that was), I've seen the movies, I've seen it at the theatre and I must have seen Luhrmann's take on the whole thing about a dozen times. I knew what was going to happen, but I still wanted to shout 'Look down you fool!' Why? Is it because I'm insane? Probably. But it struck me that no matter what you think or know is in store for a romantic couple you still have hope that it will turn out for the best. The greatest fictional couples have you on the edge of your seat attempting to use your imaginary Jedi mind powers to will them towards that happy ever after. Unless you prefer angst, in which case you'll be doing the opposite with your imaginary psychic abilities. Either way, without hope a romantic story, in fact any story, is just words and pictures. This convoluted wondering led me to attempt my first, proper fan fiction. It's called 'Hope' and it stars Ada and Leon from Resident Evil. I've seen so many fan fictions about them that end tragically or that maintain the status quo, keeping them apart. Though I think angst is a big, juicy part of this couple's allure and though I adore and admire these stories (seriously, I hope to write even half as well as some of those authors one day) I decided to have a slightly different focus. All good Ada/Leon stories I've read have hope, but as a secondary theme. I wanted to create a model of a happy ending for this couple, but without losing that angsty allure. My other motivation is simple and eternally echoed through the LeonAda fandom: 'There aren't enough stories written about Ada and Leon!' I only hope that my acid-trip ramblings can help to amend that (no pun intended- ok, maybe a little). Timeless: Timeless is a story I started several months before 'Hope' but had to give up due to work commitments at university and the fact that I had no idea how it was supposed to end- and I always like to know the end point when I'm writing! It's Leon/Ada, a fusion of romance, angst, drama and action. It's also very much experimental and when I started I was all over the place over whether I should post it up or even continue, but as it progressed I found myself enjoying it all the more. The main theme is time. Any of you watched Alias, Run Lola Run or Memento? I love shows/films like them because of their non-linear narratives and clever flashbacks; so I've drawn heavily from them here. The TV show Alias is one of my faves and the complex and dangerous life of Sydney Bristow gave me heaps of inspiration when I was trying to work out just what Ada Wong's life as a double agent must be like. Timeless is written entirely in 2nd person and every chapter contains small prologues that show Leon and Ada in a motel room. These prologues are set toward the end of the story so they're more of a flash-forward than a flashback. They're also framed around the main concept of 'timelessness'- Leon and Ada are in their own little world here, time can't touch them when they're together. Throughout the story the clock is always ticking and in the last few chapters the biggest countdown of them all is revealed. But I'm not giving it away here. You’ll have to read it for yourself. Faith This fic and I have had a troubled relationship. It is so far my longest and most challenging story. It’s been a bit like a marathon. Three quarters of the way through I fell to the floor exhausted and wondering what the hell ever possessed me to start it in the first place. But with encouragement from friends I picked myself up and limped to the finish line. This story is a sequel to my first fic ‘Hope’. But now we have Leon, in the place of Ada, physically and emotionally struggling through his work life, his family life and his love life in a matter of weeks. He meets his dearly departed father and gets to know the real man behind the shadowy figure he’d idolised since he was a child. At the same time he discovers the secrets behind his parents’ brief marriage and the many different forms forgiveness can take. I had such fun putting together a family for Leon and painting a complex and affecting childhood for my favourite game hero. It was my first time writing from Leon’s POV and I’m not 100 happy with every bit of the story, but overall I’m pleasantly surprised by the result. By the end of the story both Leon and Ada make a decision that will change their lives for both the better and the worse. They learn that faith is something you see with your heart, not with your eyes. Whilst this isn’t my most polished story, it led me to feel differently about the way I approach my work and the people in my life. For that alone I will always remember it fondly. Beta Reading: I will try my best to respond to requests to read other Leon/Ada stories and leave reviews. I love reading other people’s work. I’m also on the staff of a Leon/Ada C2 so I can put stories into that archive if anyone requests it. But I unfortunately don’t have the time to beta for other writers- though I really wish I did!
