Child abuse, MAKE IT STOP!

Merk: I actually have something to say about this. I'm a child of an abusive family, too, but what's so bad about it is that it wasn't my parents. We were going through a financially tough time and my aunt volunteered to babysit me on weekdays. So I'd take the bus home from school (5 yrs old - 11 yrs old) and stay at her house until my parents could come and get me. Also, during the summer, I had to stay there all day because both my parents worked. I had to protect my sisters, both younger than me, from her as well, which usually got me landed with slaps, which later became mere scolding because that was all it took to get me to feel lower than shit. The worst part was whenever my parents could draw the stories from me, mom always looked like she was ready to cry and dad just started growling. He'd be real edgy and sometimes lash out at me and hurt me, but at least he'd always apologize. I actually got to the point where I'd discuss with my sisters how I was going to kill myself. Then, finally, I snapped. I was eleven years old. My parents had left me at home on summer vacation and wouldn't be back for a few days. My aunt was going to pick me up, she already had my sisters with her. She lives about a three minute drive from our house. I didn't want to go to the beach, so I packed a few things and tried to run away. My aunt found me hiding in a driveway about seven miles away nearly ten hours later. I've never been so upset in all my life. She dragged us to the beach, the whole time ranting, talking about how I was an ungrateful bitch and much not love her or even like her to do what I did, making me look like the bad guy. After that, my parents started trusting me to watch over my sisters so we wouldn't have to be near her. That, and they know I won't run away with my sisters. If you want to, you can tell my story too, but it's still being written. To this day I am afraid of her, I flinch whenever my dad makes sudden motions or comes too close, I can barely control my emotions. This is what abuse does. It's not glamorous. It's not something to be proud of. It's scary and it's real and it can even lead to suicide, which I have come so close to, it's not even funny. I've cut myself, and got addicted, but with the help of my friends I managed to over come it. I know how cliche this is, but friends are the greatest gift you will ever have, so don't neglect them. That's all I gots ta say.
