Author has written 9 stories for Artemis Fowl. "The fear of death is the most unjustified of all fears for there is no risk of accident for someone who is dead." Albert Einstein Name: Well, I'm not going to tell you that mainly because I'm a little paranoid : ) But Lily's just a nickname, something I use online. Age: 16 (And offically on the road!! Watch out!) About my penname: My fav characters from some of my favorite books. Guess if you like. One of them is pretty easy, the other one, I doubt it. And just because it sounds cool. Birthday: June 8th, 1992 About my favorite books and authors: Harry Potter- I am a total fanatic. I know practically every single detail ever written by Jo (J.K. Rowling for those who've never visited her site) and I am proud to say that I got an Exceeds Expectations on the latest WOMBAT (again this should mean nothing to people who don't go to jkrowling.com). But, I would never write HP fanfics unless I have an absolutely perfect idea because I think it would just be ruining the books. No offense, but fanfics are never as good and to me, it would always feel like you're insulting the memory of the books (but only because I'm so obsessed). Then again, you'd have to be some kind of genius to even rival Jo. So I'm not even going to try. But if you want to try and convince me to write one, the PM button is right above you. Artemis Fowl- my second favorite series. My favorite has to be TAI, the first one I've ever read (because the cover was so shiny!), and because every character is just perfect, as they do change a bit from book to book. Artemis was not really evil and not good either, and the sparks flying between him and Holly are just amazing! But I hated the end (not the epilogue part, but the fact that they actually mindwiped him! How could you let that happen, Holly?) of TEC and TOD because it was just so contradictory to everything else in the books. I can't explain it, but TOD was just disappointing. But TLC almost makes up for it. Almost. Anyways, I mainly like the books because they are SO funny and just pure adventure. And because I am totally obsessed with Holly! She is just so cool! Joan Bauer- I LOVE all her books. Yeah, I know they are VERY different from the other two above but they are amazing and so insightful. (I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff). Sharon Creech- again, sucker. I read The Wanderer when I was nine and she's been one of my favorite authors since. The whole flashback thing, I love to death. But Bloomability is definitely her best. Kite Runner- The book is amazing and just so realistic and emotional that it really did make me cry and that is extremely rare. I literally had to stop because I was sobbing so hard at one point. I mean, I hate the "protaganist" (totally spineless) but at the same time, you have to feel a little bit sorry for him. Mainly for Hassan, but a little bit for Amir, too. Also, if anyone's wondering, A Thousand Splendid Suns was decent, too, but probably not as good as The Kite Runner. Understandable since Khaled Hosseini actually knows what it's like to be a boy in Afghanistan in the seventies, but having not been through the ordeals described in his second book, I don't think he could write as realistic an interpretation. It was really the realness of it all that captured me about Kite Runner- I could see it happening right before my eyes. After all, the truest advice anyone's ever given me about writing is "write about what you know". Thomas Harris- All of his books are incredible! So scary, but incredible. Especially Silence of The Lambs, which was just...perfect. And if you notice- Clarice Starling IS Holly (from Artemis Fowl)- smart, brave, witty, and just so strong. I swear that Colfer just made Holly his own version of Clarice Starling because of the Hannibal book ending...you have to read it to get it. A Northern Light- I never thought this book would be all that good but was incredible! It's just so truthful in a captivating sort of way- like, everyone thinks about these things, but no one says them out loud. I love it and I can't wait to read The Tea Rose by Jennifer Donelly as well. To Kill A Mockingbird- I don't usually like classics that much, but for this book, I really do understand why it's stood the test of time. Nelle Harper Lee is just an amazing writer and I do think that this is one of the few books that has succeeded in making me cry. Like literally bawl. (About Jem after the trial, if you must know. For some reason, he tugs at my heartstrings in a way Scout can't.) If you've read it, you probably know why. If You Come Softly- I usually don't like romances, but this one is so sad and yet, so beautiful. The poem its inspired by is also the same one I used for Collision, by the way. I won't spoil the ending, though. Pairings I love! Harry Potter: Harry/Ginny- I kind of would've prefered to see him stay alone, just because, but it IS canon now so... Ron/Hermione- It has been hinted at for about eternity and everyone, even the H/Hr shippers, should just accept it and move on. Lupin/Tonks- Too bad they're both dead, huh? Artemis Fowl: Holly/Artemis- Please don't trample me, people. I'm not saying they will get together. Even if the hints were right, it could never be. Just in fanfiction, it has the possibility to be a truly great pairing- much like Clarice/Hannibal, hm? Holly/Trouble- I am not a diehard A/H or nothing fan and it's probably the most realistic for Holly, though it'll never have that spark that A/H has. Artemis/no one- It's just best for him, I think, solitude. It's very Artemis. Holly/ no one- I may support the pairings above, but I never really thought that Holly was the romantic type and no one's good enough for her. Root/Vinyaya- Yes, I know he's dead and will stay that way but still it's cute. Holly/Juliet- I don't think I'd be good at writing slash as I don't actually know anyone who's gay but this has to be the best slash pairing ever! They're so sweet together. Juliet/Artemis- Juliet rocks (she is totally not a ditzy blonde!) and that would be so cute if they did finally get together. ANYTHING is better than Artemis/Minerva. Opal/Opal- What can I say? She's in love with herself! Thomas Harris: Clarice/Pilcher- It's sweet and most of all, safe. I guess I still want that for Clarice even though I accept the Hannibal ending as the gospel (canon) truth, unlike many of his one-time fans. Clarice/Hannibal- The best part about this pairing is the heavy, romantic atmosphere that a lot of Hannibal was encased in. I swear it was almost palpable. And by the end, almost understandable. Almost. Hannibal/no one- Hey, like I said, I'm not a big fan of romance and he is a cannibal after all. Not that cannibals don't deserve to be happy in love...if there's actually any activists for cannibal rights reading this. Clarice/no one- She's so unromantic, a lot like Holly. She basically ignores everyone who hits on her...which is understandable since they're usually pervs. I guess I just like my tough heroines unburdened by a guy. Hard to imagine Clarice (or Holly) actually settling down. Pairings I Hate! Well, none of them. I'd never not read a story simply because I don't happen to agree with the pairing. After all, any pairing has the potential to be very realistic and romantic if the author is talented and consciencious enough. Example: I didn't think I'd ever like Holly/Foaly, which was just a little too out there for me, but then I read My Lucky Number. It was so cute and sweet and wonderful that I decided that anything goes. So I'd basically read anything. Wisdom of Life - Quotable Quotes. (stolen from refloc, who stole it from Earthborne) According to the latest figures, 43 percent of all statistics are utterly worthless. For people that hate stereotypes: If you think people should just shut up and stop, put this on your profile. (BOLD the ones you are.) In parantheses are my snarky side comments. Also, I believe in pretty much full disclosure so all of the bolded are true and nothing is left out. I really don't care what you think of me. Really, if you want to know something about me-- just ask. Don't assume. About My Stories You've probably clicked on my profile because you were interested in my stories and not actually, me, so here's goes: Collision of the Worlds: I promise that even if I don't update for a while, I am continuing this. It's easily the best-recieved fanfic I've ever written and after more than 250 reviews, and three Orion nominations, this is definitely something I'm quite proud of. But...upon rereading, it kind of sucks...huh. Well, I've decided that on my next fics, I will be stepping up my style...hopefully. Candlelight: If you don't mind a vague-ish sort of fic, this one's for you! Even though, it is my first ever written fic, I'm quite proud of it, and I do think it deserves recognition far more than Collision, even though it's the one with all the nominations. Sometimes oneshots are far more difficult to execute elegantly than a chaptered fic. Please do read it and don't forget to review! Other oneshots: I wouldn't bother reading them, to be truthful. (Save me the humiliation!!) They were my earlier attempts at actual depth and didn't turn out well. I'll probably do a revamp on some of them when I actually get some free time. But read them if you're curious. A Conversation With Death: I'm rather a realist and this is one my strangest fics to date, I think. But it was so much fun to write it and I hope you'll have fun reading it. Drabbles Galore!: Just about every authro has their random drabbles and this is mine. Also, one of the drabbles in this story, Why? was recently nominated for two Orion Awards, so please take a look! Word of the Day: Every day when I feel like I have a bit of time, I look on dictionary .com to see the word of the day and if it sparks an idea in me, I post something here. It's more of an exercise for me to be able to concoct a story from almost anything. Future Works: If you're one of my more faithful readers, you may know that I'm pretty much allergic to first person. I tried in a few drabbles but it didn't turn out too well. To me, since they're not my characters, even if I know them as well as the back of my hand, it seems like sneaking and just...weird to write directly from their point of view. But I'm going to try in this latest four-part series, with a working title of Revolution. It's not so much a story about AF, but of society-- fairy society. It outlines Opal, Holly, and Vinyaya's past lives and hopefully, comes together with a series of motifs about society in general...hopefully. I'll try. You know, Colfer has talked about revealing the characters' backstories in the next book, and to be truthful, I'm disappointed. That's because I have so many backstories in my head for just about every character that I think are actually quite realistic and plausible and I would just hate it if the actual writer came in and disputed them. So what if I wrote my own profiles and put them up online as an alternative? It would be a series of short stories for each character I choose and to me, that's quite interesting, but do tell me if you feel the same way. So far, the one that's progressed the furthest as far as writing is Holly's (I've always thought it was such a shame that her past was mentioned so little in the books and I've always had my own theory about her). But I might also do one about Juliet and Butler, or Root, even. So PM if you'd want to read something like this! THE SEQUEL TO COLLISION IS ALMOST HERE!! No, I'm not kidding. I'm actually writing it-- five chapters are already done and the inspiration is still sticking around, despite the fact that I'm crazy busy with school right now. But...I'm about to present, on the 9th of May, the working (and very tentative) title and summary of the sequel you've all been waiting for (well, not really). Drumroll please: Artemis Fowl: The New Manhattan Everyone knows that Artemis Fowl and Holly Short make an unbeatable crime-crushing duo. When they work together, that is. But when the past comes back to haunt them, the future is at stake as a new adversary, flush with the knowledge of generations behind him, looms. As ideals clash, who will emerge victorious-- and who will die fighting? Will be published: Friday, June 20, 2008 ...cough, cough...Um, sorry guys, but it's actually now officially on hiatus, for personal reasons...don't kill me? Okay, that's all I can think of for now. Now go read my stories! Ta-ta, Lily | |||||||||||
