My Stories

Faith of the Heart: My first story, which I'm currently being rewriting. Here's the basic premise of the story:

Akatsuki is growing bolder with each passing day. To protect all that he holds dear, Naruto gathers the only group of shinobi powerful enough to fight back...the jinchuuriki. But the first of Naruto's fellow demon hosts to rally to the cause turns out to have been hiding much closer to home than anyone believed.

I'll post more information after I get a little further into the rewriting process.

Shinobi Odyssey: Like many readers of fan fiction, I'm a bit leery of crossover stories. Too many crossovers do a poor job integrating the two (or more) universes they are trying to combine and quickly descend into unreadable absurdity. Shinobi Odyssey is my attempt to demonstrate the right (I hope) way to write a crossover, in this case by crossing Stargate SG-1 with Naruto Shippuuden. I'll let you be the judge of how successfully that goal is achieved. Here's the new synopsis I'm playing with for the story:

When the mission to track down Sasuke and Itachi goes wrong, Naruto and Hinata find themselves stranded on another planet. To get home, they must join forces with some unexpected new friends to battle ancient enemies. Along the way, the two young shinobi discover their home world is at the center of a plot that threatens the entire galaxy.

A few of the themes I explore in Shinobi Odyssey are Naruto learning what it takes to be a leader and not just a warrior, the origins of the shinobi world, Sasuke's redemption, the crumbling Human-Rebel Jaffa-Tok'ra alliance, and what happens when the shyest kunoichi in history and Konoha's number one most unpredictable knuckleheaded ninja are finally forced to spend some quality time together.

Pairings for the story include Naruto-Hinata, Kakashi-Rin, Sakura-Sasuke (I'm still not sure 100 sure about this one. I like Lee-Sakura as a pairing just as much), and a couple of others that I'm not going to reveal until they're mentioned in the story.

Tools & Reference Material for Readers and Writers

1) Narutopedia A Naruto wiki hosted by Wikia-dot-com. An good reference for the Naruto universe that I prefer over Wikipedia's Naruto entry.

2) NarutoFan is an excellent source for various Naruto media and general information.

3) Naruto Central is another excellent fan source for Naruto media and general information.

4) Behind the Name: Japanese Names is a list of Japanese names and their meanings. A really great tool for writers, if like me, you have trouble coming up with Japanese sounding names for your OC's.

5) The Obakemono Project is a good reference on creatures from Japanese mythology and folklore.

6) Japanese Name Gender Finder is the place to go to find out if a Japanese name is male, female, or family. Also a good place to find names for OC's although it doesn't give the meanings of the names like Behind the Name.

7) Animelab.com has a Japanese dictionary and translator and a Kanji guide, among other tools for writers and fans.

8) Gate World is a great reference for Stargate fans and for readers of Shinobi Odyssey, my Naruto/Stargate SG-1 crossover, who aren't familiar with the Stargate 'verse.

9) Leaf Ninja is the most comprehensive Naruto reference I am aware of. This is a great resource for looking fans and writers alike. My only complaint is whoever runs the site occasionally lets their personal biases show through in some of the entries.

10) Huntsvilletiger's Deviant Art Favorites. I get a lot of inspiration for my writing from fan art, and have a rather extensive 'favorites' collection on Deviant Art.

(BTW: A big thanks to Dragon Man 180, who inspired this section of my profile and was the source for some of these links. They were a big help in writing Faith of the Heart. Be sure to check out his stories.

9/22/2009: Do you know how long it has been since you posted a new chapter? Yes, I am aware of how long it has been since I updated either of my stories. And no, bugging me about it does not have a positive effect on how quickly you'll get the next chapter. I pretty much ignore any message I receive that begins with some variation of "Hey, it's been a long time since..." or "When are you going to..."

Why are you taking so long to post a new chapter? The economy sucks, and I'm job hunting. 'Nuff said.

What's going on with Shinobi Odyssey? Here's what what's going to happen with Shinobi Odyssey: 1) I'm revising chapters 1-5. 2) I'm going to finish writing the current story arc before I post the next chapter. 3) When I'm done writing the story arc I will start posting a new chapter every few days until the end of the arc. I may post the revised chapters 1-5 as soon as I finish rewriting them, but I haven't decided yet.
