Hi, I'm Kara, a 34 year old mom/wife/longtime RPG fan living in Tucson, AZ. Some of you may know me as RPGMom28, who has since passed on the torch of being the 'official' listowner from the Neverwinter Nights 2 fanfic group on yahoogroups. The group is now run by three good folks and in good hands. It's a fun and open environment for writers interested in the game or fantasy in general, and it was put together by a big group of us from the Bioware Neverwinter Nights 2 boards.

Some of this fic was just absolute bliss for me to write. There were some high notes I truly enjoyed. And then there was Lucky. Lucky is harsh and cruel and cold and bitter, and yes, it's hard to take. That's because I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried to let the demons out of the cage. I don't know how I did just yet. That's because the release of the fic in my circles was mostly met with dead silence. It isn't a comfy fic. It's something that's a huge reach for me, however, as a writer. I play Lawful Good or Chaotic Good in most game scenarios. Evil is something I usually can't stand to dip my little toe into. That's why this was so important for me. I will never grow as a writer if I can't try something that's just flat out hard. And evil is tough material for me in every way. It took me quite some time to get up the guts to put the fic on this site. Finally I took the plunge. Hold your breath and jump on in with me if you feel up to the task.

Now, the light stuff. I was raised by two DnD players and always had a house full of people laughing and rolling dice. Nothing much changed when I moved away and married except that my husband Trace and I are full time PC game hermits. We have a 7 year-old daughter, Emma, who is high-functioning autistic. That keeps us from a lot of social situations because of her need to feel in control and her frequent meltdowns. But we still game, passionately. We have a cat named Sadie, a ferret named Peanut, and two parakeets- Chippy, AKA Beakface Cheekdots, and Dotty. I tend to hang out in the Neverwinter Nights, Oblivion, Baldur's Gate, and Fallout fanfic areas. Sometimes I like to upload long fics to my Amazon kindle device to read with more ease, but I always delete the material from it as soon as I am done reading.

Writing is something I just have to do. When a story is rattling around in my brain, I can't think of anything else until I sit down and get it out of me.
