Author has written 11 stories for Harry Potter.

NEWS: November 2007

Aside from Echoes, some of my new work is not acceptable for content reasons on other sites. You may find some of these non-acceptable other stories I write at here at FF.net. Most of my stories are also available on PhoenixSong.net and SIYE (siye.co.uk).

Brief Bio:

Name: Josh

Age: Wishing I was only 30 again

Education: PhD, Microprocessor Design, top-10 engineering program in the USA

Location: High-Tech focal point in USA

Number of continents I've lived, worked, and vacationed on: 5 (North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa)

Plans to make that all 7: Within another decade

Number of languages I'm fluent in: Sadly, 1

Number of languages I can "get around" in: 3-4

Hardest language I've tried to learn: Thai

Easiest language I've learned: French

Years of martial arts study: around 8

Start-ups participated in: 3

"Real Jobs" that aren't start ups I've had: err ... many?

Publications: Yep, academic and industry type activities at this job level require it

Music preferences: Speed Metal, Classical Music, Sandra Boynton CDs

Things I hate: stupidity and people that wallow in their own ignorance

Number of unique undergraduate classes I've taught in: I dunno. 10?

Number of unique graduate classes I've taught in: 4? 5? Specialized field equals narrow class range.

You can talk to me about anything you're willing to discuss intelligently. Note that modifier on the end. If you're going to spew nonsense and wallow in blissful lack of knowledge, bother someone else.

If you based my bio on the writings published to date, you might conclude I'm a bit of a depressed, violent, possibly delusional person with a penchant for saying something simple in obtuse and obfuscated ways. You might even infer that I'm very comfortable with the ideas of life and death and the reality of their uncertainty.

You may be right, I may be crazy. But I'll be the last to know one way or the other.

Echoes of Power is my own diversion from the much longer story idea I had for the HP universe. I have an elaborate beta team which is constantly becoming more intricate. My two outstanding primary betas (Fairy Beta Editors as they like to be called, despite my attempts to convey divinity status upon them) are Chreechree and cwarbeck, authors of merit in their own rights. Reg chimes in as an excellent Brit-Picker and beta of his own, followed by Sovran doing a sanity test and unspoiled reader evaluation. I also have a Londoner checking modern slang issues in Treecat. Finally, Sherylyn puts her polishing touch in, and then it goes live. Deep thanks to all of these fun people.

I generally abhor the idea of writing multiple stories at the same time, since it slows down the main effort and generally weakens them all, but I have to break down every now and then to do a one-off or chase a plot bunny. Ridiculous, Pratfall, and Doors of Perception are examples of this. Others are coming as well. Be advised: Not all bunnies are cute and fluffy. I may even contribute some missing moments to Sovran's excellent MoOniverse, also known as The Meaning of One. You should try reading it if you haven't already. While it may superficially sound or read like Fate's Debt, you'll find right away that such a comparison is weak at best. MoO is unique and novel in its own right.
