I am the writer formerly known as whoreoftortuga. It was time for a change, to reflect my more general ficwriting pursuits these days!
My eventual goal is to have a total of one million (1,000,000) words archived on this site. So far I have seven hundred and fifty four thousand, nine hundred and eighty-one (754,981) words. I wonder how long it will take?

My continuity is a sort of hybrid between the animated series continuity and the mainstream continuity. I kinda pick and choose. :)
I try to write a good balance of fiction on these two - fun, cracky stuff, psychological, intense stuff, twisted fluff, angst and drama and, of course, smut though the really hardcore stuff isn't posted here. To explain: I am a very old school Harley Quinn fan. I run www.harley-quinn.com and Joker and Harley are pretty much the only "OTP" I've ever had or ever will have. I'm very passionate about the pairing.
Reflect on it honestly within the DCAU and something quickly becomes clear: it is THE longest-term relationship of the entire animated series! It's a very complex and multi-layered relationship in which there's so much more going on beneath the surface that is all too easily ignored.
Characterisation is vitally important to me and I strive to keep both of them very much in character. They love each other, but it is twisted, unhealthy, destructive, abusive, selfish and tied up in narcissism. It's also passionate, perverse, kinky and oddly sweet and nurturing in its own way. The fluff is in keeping with their natures (ie, twisted) and there's plenty of violence, cruelty and manipulation. But I do try and go deeper into the relationship subtext.
Basically, I'm a shipper writer. Yeah, I write plot-driven stories too, but largely my interest is in writing about this relationship.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN:
Taking place over the thirteen years preceding the events of Curse of the Black Pearl, this story tells the tale of a prostitute named Evie, working the docks on Tortuga and her subsequent entanglement with Captain Hector Barbossa and how she observes the changes in him as the curse takes hold. Whilst not without its fanciful, historically inaccurate and very self-indulgent elements it is, by and large, a realistic and gritty series of stories, not skimping on the violence and sex or the coarse themes. I have tried to tell an honest tale with authentic and realistic characters and an emotionally engaging depiction of them both. Jack Sparrow makes a couple of appearances and other characters are referenced but it focuses wholly on Barbossa and Evie. Evie, whilst certainly not without her Mary Sueish elements, does not become a pirate queen, is not educated or brilliant, does not long for a "better life", does not rescue/change events/create miracles or have a profound effect on the films' events in anyway, does not make a docile pussycat of Barbossa and has a major gin addiction and cocaine habit.
Both here and at livejournal I was delighted and surprised to receive many requests for a sequel. (The reason for that will become clear when you read tBatR!) I thought about it, decided there was more in Evie and Barbossa's tale to tell, and so that is there as well! Slightly more romantic than its predeccesor but hopefully still reasonably realistic whilst remaining true to the spirit of the films.
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES
The OC I created for use in this fandom, street prostitute and heroin addict Amber, was winner of BEST OC for the 2008 TMNT Fan Fiction Awards. Thanks to everyone who voted, it means a lot to know you like her, because I just love her!
Second to Batman for having the most amount of fanfic written for it by yours truly, my take on the TMNT world tends to be gritty and dark, involving less supernatural or alien antics than that of the 23k series or CGI film, and some more intense, mature themes. My favourite character is Raphael, which probably shows, but I really adore all The Guys, plus the Family in general (Splinter, April and Casey) and I hope that shows well.
I created Amber for this fandom because I wanted to see an OC like this interact with the Turtles. And it was enormously fun. And she has been well-received! Thank you, all!

THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME
This is a series of VERY old fanfictions, written in the years 1999 - 2001. They were my first major fanfiction efforts. When I finished writing them, I stopped writing fanfiction up until I began The Briar and The Rose. However, I would still occasionally receive positive reviews of the fics, which would warm my little heart. Recently I received a very kind email urging me to post the stories here on FF.Net. My ego couldn't resist, so here they are. They are VERY flawed; the structure is a mess, the narrative runs on, the themes are confused, and my OFC, Herlikin, is a bit of Mary-Sue, but they retain something of a quaint charm. At the time, when the Clopin fandom was bigger, these fics were very popular, and I was honoured enough to receive fanfiction OF my fanfiction. I am sorry to say that my longtime friend, 'Query' passed away on the 22nd from breast cancer. She fought many years and was very brave despite all the trauma she went through. She was one of my first online friends. I've known her since 1997. She was a wonderful person, creative, intelligent and generous. I'm so happy to say I got to meet her one time when I travelled to the USA in 2001. I'm sorry I will not get the same chance again. Please check out her great Riddler fanfics under her username 'Query'. She was the biggest Riddler fan in the world, truly. She will be much missed.

My OCs are invariably redheads. This is because I am a redhead and redheads suffer from inferiority complexes begun when we're children at school being called 'ginger nut' and 'carrot top', etc. Also due to our comparative rareness - we are always bewitched and intrigued by any depictions of redheads and feel the need to participate in raising our profile.
I run the biggest, most comprehensive Harley Quinn website on the internet and my real name is used as an alias by Harley Quinn in one of the official comic book series. I have also started a project dedicated to The Joker called Every. Joker. Issue. Ever. which intends to, over time, review every comic Mistah J has ever starred in, as well as share some theories and beliefs I have about him.
I'm obsessed with shopping, vintage fashion and shoes. I'm constantly broke as a consequence, despite the fact I make a great deal of money.
I have a compulsive addiction to the colour pink. Pretty much everything in my house, from my toaster, to my toothbrush, to my sleeping mask, to my sofa, is a shade of pink. It is the most awesomely best colour. My other favourite colours are shiny and leopard print.
