Author has written 12 stories for Harry Potter.

UPDATE 10.28.09

Super-exciting news! Your cough, cough favourite fanfiction author is about to become a classy book reviewer! I got roped into doing this as a contribution to someone's website, but I am all set up with my very own blog. I will be reviewing books in the fantasy genre, hopefully one a week, for the foreseeable future. Check it out here, and leave comments that contribute to my credibility! Love you all!

UPDATE 10.25.09

Chapter 5 is posted, and Chapter 6 is in my head, though not written out just now. Check my livejournal (homepage link) for information.

/UPDATE

Hello, greetings, I'm glad you're here and taking an interest in my writing!

If you care at all about the author of the story, I am Faren, a grown woman who is still obsessed with "children's" literature. My life is one of trying to jog while facing into a strong breeze—both directions. Of working a job of 6-8 hours on my feet every day and still being ten pounds overweight. Of stubbing already bruised toes, of missing the door entirely and running into the doorjamb I just tried to open. A life of running out of money three days preceding payday, forgetting to eat and then wondering why I'm hungry, and constantly wishing I'd slept last night. And let me tell you, this is a great life. I have amazing friends, an even more amazing family, good health and an active imagination that never lets me stay bored. I have a stack of books beside my bed that I haven't read yet and a list of books that I need to add to the stack, not to mention friends who are perfectly willing to talk for hours about those books with me. I have people to call when I'm lonely or bored and they understand when I don't call because I need time to myself. My life has never been all fun and games, but who has a life like that?

Currently Reading:

Just finished: Fevre Dream by George R.R. Martin (one of the most talented authors alive, this is one of his older works and is awesome!)

Currently reading: The Magicians by Lev Grossman (off to a promising start, but I'm only in the second chapter)

Next up: First Man in Rome by Colleen McCoullough (highly acclaimed and highly recommended by my brother)

Currently viewing:

"The Big Bang Theory" on CBS— third season is just as amazing as the first two! Hilariously funny, and totally speaks to my inner nerd

"Invader Zim" — first season on DVD

I hope you're interested in my work, which is just in the Harry Potter 'verse. I'll warn you in advance that you are not going to find any erotic scenes or weird pairings here! I don't write slash fic, and the relationships I do include are (I hope) well-drawn and believable without gratituous sex scenes, so I hope you didn't come here for that. My goal is to write a quality story that stands out in the highly populated world of fanfiction. I have a completed series, a series in progress, and a couple of stand-alone pieces. I am quite proud of them all, and here I shall break them down for you to give you a little guidance . . .

The Redemption Series

When I read J.K. Rowling’s masterful works, something was bugging me the whole time: what happens after? What happens when the war is over, when friends and enemies alike are dead, and there are orphans and widows to think about? Mind you, I started writing this series before the Deathly Hallows was published, and my ideas don't totally mesh with the tail end of that story, especially the epilogue. My ending for Rowling’s HP series became the beginning of my own . . . A long and involved series it is, too, with a vast number of original characters, some of whom I didn’t plan on having until they were suddenly there. I had originally created individual character lists for each story to help readers keep track, but now that the series has ended, I have one massive freakin’ OC list, which I have in my LiveJournal. You may access it by clicking on this text.

Written Pre-DH, not DH compliant

Read in this order:

Save Me (full-length)

Brothers and Sons (full-length)

A Foreign Language (full-length)

A Few of Our Favourite Things (4 vignettes)

I Am Gryffindor’s Daughter (short story)

Until the End (one-shot)

The Wise One trilogy

This trilogy is now complete, and it is pretty long—do not attempt to undertake while under the influence. The idea of prophecy is one I find fascinating, and so this trilogy is really an answer to this question: is prophecy fluid, self-fulfilling, or something else entirely? The trilogy is about what happens when Harry and Voldemort are separated, with vast implications in the lives of all the characters we love so dearly in the HP books. I changed one event in the timeline and was amazed by everything that changed because of it. More than anything, Harry changed. There are a lot of canon events, but it's a little darker. Harry just doesn't care about prophecy, you see. It makes him a little snarky.

Going Home

This is a story in which the DH epilogue never happens . . . Harry is forced into a situation where he must raise Teddy as his own, but he must do this while coping with the knowledge that Teddy is likely to die by the age of ten due to the volatile nature of his genetic inheritance. His entire life changes, but it may just turn out for the better . . . This story is just beginning, and I'm counting on a lot of input to make it good! It's a really different sort of story, for me.

A Supplication for a Forgotten Soul

At the Close

These are both stand-alone pieces whose story descriptions should suffice.

I have two story banners, both created for me by the lovely laurasedai . She writes some wonderful work, I recommend several of her stories.
