I've been writing fanfiction for an insanely long before I knew it was actually called fanfiction, and before I knew that Mary Sue characters are the bane of my reader's existences. I started with Star Trek, moved on to Legend of Zelda, then Harry Potter. Looking back at that stuff is amusing because it's very, very bad, but it also makes me kind of happy to see how I've improved over the years.

The first stories I started posting on the internet were some of my Final Fantasy VII ones, but those are kind of outdated now, with the possible exception of Tangent. Lately I've been branching out into other genres too, though most of that isn't up on this site yet. I usually end up writing really looonnng fics that can never be finished, with Forsaken probably the most prominent of the bunch.

I haven't really been doing fanfiction for a while now, because I've been focusing my attentions on my original novel, which has been about five years in the making. I'm getting back in gear with Replacements though. I'm totally obsessed with FMA right now. Let's hope it lasts, because I'd really like to finish a multichapter fic one of these days.

I am currently working on a novel (but who isn't?). It began eons ago as Final Fantasy VII fanfiction, and then became original within the first two pages because I always end up using OCs. One day, it will be finished. I've been dividing my time between this and Replacements and every week I end up switching between them.

OCs... For some reason, they always end up in my fics. Not really sure why, although my name is Mary and I could just be the embodiment of a Mary Sue. As a reader, I have trouble reading fics with OCs, yet in my own stuff I always end up with one of them on my hands that I just can't seem to dismiss. I'm pleased with Replacements, however (which is rare, because I'm rarely pleased with anything, ever). I'm glad people like my OC, and I really like the way she's been coming out. Not to spoil anything, but to avoid that Mary Sue course and because I am a Royai fan, Mustang will not be falling in love with her anytime soon.

Random Fic status:
Forsaken: Will never be updated again. I have chapters written in my notebooks, but they're so old that I just can't bring myself to type them. Even with those, the story isn't anywhere near completion, and never will be. Forsaken itself is really old/crappy, as I wrote it when I was an angsty/depressed 7th grader. Nearly every time I log on, I think of taking it down. One day I probably will.
Tangent: May get an update in the not so near future. Advent Children has brought back some of my interest in FF7.
Replacements: My current baby. Currently at 8 chapters handwritten. I need to start typing 7, and will start soon, because it's got a neat twist at the end that I want to see people's reactions too. (Unless said twist is already blatantly obvious, which it probably is.) 8, however, is hardcore crazyness in which Laura gets the crap beaten out of her and Mustang freaks out for unrelated reasons. I'm looking forward to posting it.
