Yu-Gi-Oh!

Former Body, Future Spirit: (FIXED) Written for Rowena DeVandal's One Thousand Words or Less July Writing Challenge. Oneshot. Otogi Ryuuji-centered. Reposted.

Though I have received many nicknames on this site from various people, you can call me Ari. I'm 17 and female, if that wasn't obvious enough. My alter ego is Sailor Soldier Mars. I hang out at the Fireplace Alliance quite often, if you don't like that fact, too bad. I also lurk on a number of other forums as well. That's all you need to know about me. I'm not telling you my life story.

I know my writing isn't perfect, I don't expect it to be. I can accept that, and I also know that I won't get any better unless I keep writing and work on improving. I appreciate any kind of feedback (unless it's a revenge-flame or you're only flaming because it involves a pairing you don't like, because then you're just being stupid and immature. Grow up.)

I don't flame stories unless it's really, really, bad and beyond all hope, or it's against the TOS. I try to give concrit, it's up to you whether or not you choose to take my advice. Also, just because I don't flame, doesn't mean I don't support it. Trust me, some of you need it. I will report any Jonas Brothers stories or any other real people fics I find. They are NOT allowed here, so stop posting your shitty wet dream sex fantasies for everyone to see.

I work with both canon and well-written OCs. Expect to see my OCs in future oneshots or twoshots, as I feel that placing them in a smaller piece first will help flesh them out and test drive them, so to speak. After I feel that they are polished and fit well into the canon, I will try my hand at multi-chaptered works featuring them. Also, as I've stated above, I do still work with canon. For the time being, I will only write het fics, however, this is not because I hate yaoi and yuri. I'm an avid reader of both, I just don't feel like I'm capable of pulling off a good yaoi or yuri story myself at this point. Maybe I'll try shounen/shojo-ai, as it's the milder cousin of the two, sometime. On that note, I will probably write limes over lemons, but it depends on the story. I will try my best to keep canon characters IC. I don't particularly like OOCness unless the following occur: It's an AU fic, there's a logical reason behind it, or it's a well-written parody of sorts.

I get inspired by songs very often, but I do not write songfics. I know how to interpret the lyrics of songs in order to write a good plot based around them without literally inserting the lyrics into the story inself. That just breaks the flow of the story up and ruins it. Another good method for stories that are inspired by songs is to search up the song and listen to it while you read and/or write. I recommend that both as a reader and a writer, as you get the same effect.

When it comes to yaoi fics, I honestly don't like the seme/uke stereotypes most people use. Why does one character have to be uke? Why can't both of them be equal? That's just my opinion, but I find it degrading to the characters. On more things I don't like, I hate Mary-Sues/Gary-Stus, overly done or cliched plots, rape of the English language and canon, Jonas Brothers stories, Jonas Brothers story writers, and generally the amount of shitty fics that have been polluting this website as of late.

I am willing to write for and read any genre, but I admit to being selective about parodies. I also enjoy writing challenges from both livejournal and FFnet. A personal challenge of mine is to write a realistic self-insert and make it work. I have high standards when it comes to writing. I do NOT tolerate chatspeak in a story at all. This is a writing website, not some huge text message where you can write your wet dream fantasies and pass them off as "stories". Show some pride in your work for fuck's sake and follow the damn TOS. They are there for a reason, you know.

In terms of any anime or manga series I write for, it honestly depends on where I decide to get my knowledge and what verse I will set my stories in. I might like the manga-verse better for one series, and the anime-verse better for another. That's my personal decision. For anime series, I will almost always watch the English dubbed version, if there is one, first. (Yes, I'll even sit through a 4kids dub.) This helps me gain a vague understanding of what's going on and is generally easier for me to do. After I watch the entire series in English, I will go back and rewatch it in Japanese with the English subs. This also helps me compare the two, but I will probably write based off the Japanese version more often than the dubbed one. No matter what, I'll make a note of it in the beginning of my story. Also, unless I state the story as being AU in any way, the events of canon occurred. I do not ignore canon in a regular story, and please note that I may interpret canon differently from you. I write based off of what I gather, and this goes for any fandom, anime or not. Once again, what I write is based off of my views and decisions, be it anime or manga verse, sub or dub, and how I interpret canon events.

If anyone even reads this, expect more to be added as time goes on. Well, maybe...
