A note on Mary Sues and other shitty fictions

People need to stop posting sue fics. No one wants to read them, and they are a waste of space.

Yes I understand that younger people write sues. I used to myself. We all outgrow it eventually and so will you. Here are some tips to help you and the rest of the site.

1.Do not post your first few stories

Your first few stories will be complete and utter crap, everyone's are. Please do not post them here. Save them on your hard drive or in your notebooks.

2.Get someone to look through your stories

A beta or a good friend will do just fine. Have them look through for spelling and grammar errors. Betas can also help you word things better and help you space them better. Don't get lazy though, betas are not there to change diapers.

3. Read through your story

It should take you more than one day to write a chapter. When the chapter is finished read the whole thing. That way you can make sure it all flows together.

4. Pay attention in English class

You will learn the difference between your and you're. You will also learn that a lot is not spelled alot.

5. Do not make your characters flawless

Mary Sues are flawless characters. No one wants to read stories like that. No one is invincible so have your characters take a hit once and awhile while fighting. Also do not have everyone feel sorry for your character because they have a tragic past. Characters must also fit in with everyone else. They cannot have any sort of power that is not possible in their world or does not exist in this world.

For example: If the world contains superheroes then your character can have superpowers. If the world has no superheroes then the only powers they could have would be voodoo or wiccian.

6. Do not expect to get nothing but positive feedback

Not everyone will like your story. You have to accept the fact. Take the advice the reviewer gives you and do not respond to them saying "Ur a meenie. I h8 u!" The reviewer will laugh at you.
