Hello. I'm Drake the Ronin, a lover of myths and legends intent on writing a few of his own.

About Me: My favorite stories have always involved fantasy, magic, and all the wonderful (and terrible) things that can't actually happen. Among my two favorite things to see integrated into the previous settings are dragons and swordsmen (which combine together to form my name). My progress as a writer is still a bit iffy, but then again I'm usually the only one who's down on me for things like that.

The Process: I've always been a bit of a pessimist when it comes to my own work. That is to say that I never think it's good enough (or at the very least never perfect). I tend to edit and change heavily from conception to pen to paper to typing to etc. While it does give me a tedious task with much heartache from my own judgements, I still find it a better path than the optimist's who just thinks it's pretty good from the get-go.

What To Expect: I can't say with any certainty what stories I'll be writing in here (though the first two on my list are from the realm of Soul Calibur), since the stories that burst into my brain sometimes come at random. However, I am a fan of video games so several of them may give me inspiration in the future.

Inspiration:

1. Converging Souls-- My first story comes from the recent SC game (3) which allowed me to create my own characters. In the back of my mind I created a backstory for each of them, even connecting them on a few points. A week or so passed of doing that before a few neurons fired and the entire story shot through my head like a bullet. Several weeks of jotting down ideas and notes, gathering information from the game itself, and eventually the actual act of putting the story down on paper became my driving force. It is my first completed story (though not the first I've started, unfortunately) and I hope that you people out there enjoy it. Takes place roughly a year or so after my version of SC:3's events. What are my version of the events? Well that leads us to...

2. Soul Calibur 3: Lost Souls-- A prequel to the previously mentioned story (except for ch. 3. for that it's kind of a sequel). It explains exactly what happened with most of the other characters in order for my story to happen, though it uses more than what appeared in my story and some things that don't explain anything but helped to round things out. It also explains why a couple of things that are a little strange (maybe) and unexplained in the story are the way they are. Each chapter has a battle between some of the characters from the game and would end with one defeated, hence the title. Basically, it uses all of the major characters from Soul Calibur 3 except Olcadon, Night Terror, and a standard character that appeared in Converging Souls (try and guess who before the end). I owe a huge thanks to Lord Genesis Shadow for giving me ideas for some of the fights and to hellhound-d.o.w. for making sure I don't screw up with spelling or anything. As for the rest of you, I can't wait to see what you think of it.

I'd Like to Thank: No, not the academy. They don't like me much anyway. First thanks goes to family, who have been as tolerant as I imagine possible when I focus on writing instead of... other things. Next up is whatever muse has chosen to take up residence in my brain (sometimes she doesn't stop giving inspiration, but I still love her).
