I'm a quirky person of the female variety who likes to read books and fan fiction. Wow, this makes me sound really boring. sorry about that. Anywho, read my stories (yay it's plural now!) and in case your wondering, my username is from the Princess Bride which is quite possibly the best movie on the face of the planet. Anyway, I'll let you get back to reading the stories which are better than my rambling on. enjoy!

Update 6/19/08: I'm back! Sort of anyway. It's summer, so I should have more time, but then I do have a job and a math class to deal with, so who knows. Anyway, I probably won't post a multichapter story for a while, but maybe a few oneshots.

Fanfiction Pet Peeves

(Disclaimer: I'm basically stealing this from lallyzippo. First off, she's okay with it. secondly, see number 3, and thirdly, she pretty much said exactly what I wanted to say, so why reinvent the wheel right?)

1. When people spaz out because they got a flame.

Okay, so maybe your story sucks. Maybe that reviewer just didn't like your story. Cry me a river, build me a bridge, and freaking get over it!

2. When people mistake your constructive critisism and spaz out at you.

I feel that this site is to improve everyone's writing and obviously it's not perfect, so take the critisism and make your writing better.

3. When people get too serious about fanfiction and expect others to do exactly the same.

This site is to have fun, and improve your writing. For crying out loud. So stop freaking out. I love the way lallyzippo puts it: this is not 'original writing site' this is FANfiction as is let's totally rip off other people's characters and have fun! And really, who cares if it's cliche. I happen to love cliche things if they're done well. (Like chick flicks for example, but let's not even go there.)

4. People who don't do grammar/spell checks.

This should actually be at the top of the list. I realize that maybe some of you aren't the best spellers out there, but that's what spell check or a beta is for. One or two typo's are fine. I know I have some. But when I want to stab my eyes out because the grammar and spelling is so bad, then we've got a problem. It doesn't matter how amazing your story is. If everytime I try to read it I want to die, then what's the point?

5. People who use chat speak

It just makes you look stupid. I can overlook it in a review and summary most of the time (Even though it still ticks me off.), but in your story? Come on. (for my full rant, see number 4.)

6. Crappy summaries.

That wasn't the best title, but there's a lot here, so bear with me. I don't really care if this is your first fan fiction or if your story is better than the summary sounds or if you can't write a summary. Just try your best and most likely people will read your story.

Okay, now I'm done. I'll get off my soap box.
