Fanfiction had been my escape from reality, a way to muster the courage to face my own life and to fix it up until I graduated High School.
Then it became an exercise, a way to stretch my writing muscles and learn to think as others might, a path towards a better understanding of the power of words.

And then came college, a whirlwind of philosophy and friends, new situations and new people. I spent more time on my work, more effort in my thoughts, and fanfiction faded quickly from my radar.

Only I had left too many tales untold, too many threads untied. I am back now, however temporarily, to wind up what I began, and to think deeply about whether and where I will go should I choose to start again.

"Thoughts in Winter" and "Different Thoughts in Winter" are done, completed one-shots, reflecting together the way the lives diverge and things move apart.
"Echoes" will be restarted, and two more portaits will be drawn, leaving a total of 10. A thousand words of the difficulties life brings, and the pain we feel in living it.
"Drops of Color" has already been revived, and as promised, will slowly and carefully grow to be my largest work, 100 drabbles of 100 words. A square of color and the droplets of life that it shows.

When these last snapshots have been taken, I will become silent until I am inspired to once again test my wings in the world of writing.

I will still review everything that I read, but more and more, my reading will shift into the great literature written years and years ago by our greatest thinkers - Plato, Aristotle, God- and farther away from the arena of fanfiction.

Perhaps, I will leave my artwork here, and return to see it only as one might view relics from one's childhood.
Perhaps, I will flirt with this medium, sometimes attentive and sometimes silent.
Perhaps, having returned to writing, I will simply be unable to stop.
